Transtar 4270

got this off ebay. Someone swapped parts with a 4370 and here's what I've got. Spring suspension, the IH V8 instead of the Cummins 903, even though I'm cramming a Cummins 350 under the hood. Kit still has the spoke rims, seats are lowbacks which I changed to highbacks and that's about it. Added the headache rack from the KW Alaskan Hauler and rear tires from the parts box.

One note: Only cabovers are called Transtars.

Actually both are Transtars, the newer one was called the Transtar II (4070) and the conventional (4370) just Transtar.

Well, I heard of the cabover first, so I prefer to just call that one a Transtar & save me some confusion.

Nice build. I like that International trucks by ERTL. Have often thought about getting hold of the Transtar 4270 but they are fetching quite a price on Ebay these days.

Nice truck, I always liked the looks of these. We have an old '78 4300 triaxle at work. It has a Cummins Big Cam III with a 13-spd Eaton Fuller Trans. It ain't much to look at, but mechanically it is a brand new truck.

Also as a side note, the 4270 is a short hood, the 4300 has a long one. I'm not sure of the actual dimensions though.
