GMP440 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Wanted to ask the resin casters how you are resin casting steering wheels. I have been resin casting small parts. The castings come out nice. But, when I cast a steering wheel the steering wheel remains bendable after the resin has cured for a while. However, other parts that I cast ; once cured fully, are nice and hard. It's just the steering wheels that remain a little soft. Those that cast resin parts , how do you get a more rigid casting of a steering wheel?
Jeremy Jon Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 What resin are you using? I found alumilite was this way sometimes, and switched to smooth-on 300 series resins, which are MUCH better You can also pre-heat your mold, that helps thinner castings to set faster, also being very exact with your ratio of mix is a factor
