addicted2modeling Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 So far I painted my bed's lower half in pewter metallic as I wanted. I used Scotch blue painters tape, and Tamiya's masking tape for the edging. It came out really nice! I used 3 LMC and then one wet coat, which I will stop at there.
southpier Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 there's a fellow on You-Tube named Hunter Selby. he just did a great tutorial how to get clean separation lines - and used a rattle can to prove it could be done. well worth the ten minute watch.
addicted2modeling Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 My work is pretty good, don't you agree?
southpier Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 yes!!! I thought this was the thread about having the paint bleed or tear up when the tape was removed. (up from my nap, now - a lot of things look different)
addicted2modeling Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Thanks!! I think I'm gonna buy Frog Tape to mask off the bottom portion just to be very safe. I got Tamiya's 6mm masking tape and Scotch's blue painter masking tape.
addicted2modeling Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Here is the tailgate part of my truck. I 06'd the tailgate, meaning I scraped off the "Chevrolet" badge and leave the "Silverado" badge intact like the real 2006 Silverado has. Edited October 6, 2014 by addicted2modeling
addicted2modeling Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Thank you! It's 95% done all it the whole body needs is a gloss clear coat and the hood to be painted then clear coated. After that, I got to paint the small details like the engine, wheels, etc..
