Art Anderson Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Does Purple Power remove Tamiya putty? I don't want it to. It your Tamiya putty is the solvent type (one part putty), more than likely Purple Power will at least soften it. Art
chunkypeanutbutter Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Okay, eech. What should I do instead?
Art Anderson Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Okay, eech. What should I do instead? IF that putty is solvent-based, it's more than likely a very thick lacquer primer. With that in mind, any of the paint strippers we modelers use may very well soften the puttywork to the point that it will have to be redone. Wish I had a better answer! Art
jbwelda Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 its going to totally melt it away. only option to redoing the putty work is not to chemically strip the paint, but instead sand it off or something. brake fluid MIGHT work and easy off oven cleaner might work, but there are no guarantees. I would think easy off would be the best choice since the removal technique I know using it only involves the fumes from the oven cleaner, not really direct contact. jb
