mackinac359 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) Bad news. AMT/LearningCurve/RC2 can't obtain licensing due to Fruehauf no longer being in business and has canceled the reissue for Stevens International. Too bad, it is/was a great kit. Tim Edited January 26, 2008 by mackinac359
ABC Auto Industry Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) Oh well, I'm sure the original is common enough on Ebay that I can obtain one for a good price (unlike the Ford C-600 garbage truck). Fruehauf's no longer in business? I'm surprised! How long ago was this? I read in Wikipedia about a court case "NLRB v. Fruehauf Trailer Co." Could this be why? I hope the Mack Cruise-Liner's still good to go. I'd rather not pay insane prices for an original on Ebay. Besides, I've got something wicked cool in mind for this rig. After it's finished, I'll give it to my dad as a gift. By the way, thanks for building the test shots of those kits, Tim! If I score a Cruise-Liner kit, I'll have fewer problems in building it! Also, thanks for the tip you gave me about the Autocar cab supports! Also, do you have any tips on attaching hood/cab hinges so they'll function properly? I had trouble doing this on the Chevy Titan kit and as a result, I had to glue the cab permanently shut. Edited January 26, 2008 by ABC Auto Industry
Ayatollah Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Chriss Street robbed them blind back in the early 2000's. The board was asleep at the wheel until it was too late. Chriss Street sued again It's a shame for that kit to die that way though. So does that mean there will also never be a tanker re-issue though (even though they are so plentiful)?
Aaronw Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) You would think they could just drop the name and go from there. I mean if there is nobody to approve the licensing who would contest a no-name release of the trailer? If Revell can drop the Goodyear from its tires without re-making the whole tire I would think they could issue the trailer name free. Oh, well its not like most of this licensing stuff actually makes sense to the normal person on the street anyway. That's too bad, I wasn't particularly looking forward to this release but I'm sure many others were. Edited January 26, 2008 by Aaronw
