Clay Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 That looks great!! What are you using for the hinges?
rollinoldskoo Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 most of the guys here probably know but i'll share anyway.... i use 1/16 copper tube and 1/32 brass rod for my hinges.... cost under $3 i think for a pair of them.... i get at my local hobby shop... the rod should fit snug in the tube... roll the blade on the tube to scribe it... you should be able to just break off the tube after u make a cut around it witht he blade.... assemble and bend like here..... this is for a trunk...narrower for the doors all i used is a pliers and a knife....
Clay Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 thanks for sharing, too bad i dont have a hobby shop near by
Raul_Perez Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 That's coming along nicely, Rollin!! I use the same method for my hinges, except I use the aluminum tubing instead of the copper. It cuts a lot easier. Keep building and posting!!
Ponti Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Thank's for sharing the way you make your hinges. Only question is, are there set lengths that the tube or rod need to be? Never done this before but think I'll give it a try.
