I have been thinking about building a Peterbilt 352 with a 12V71 and I have a question. The Round Two Pete only has one breather and air intake going to the 8V71. The few pictures I have seen of the 352 with a 12V71 have two breathers and dual intakes to the 12V71. Tim has one of a Alaskan hauler like that on his web site. I was wondering if it would be realistic to just use one breather air intake system that is in the Round Two Kit for a 12V71 setup . I am trying to cut some costs and not have to buy two kits. I have the P&P resin 12V71 engine. I would also like to see some pictures of a 12V71 I just haven't been able to find much on the internet. Thanks much for any help.

The intake system under the hood might be a bit tricky. But the 2nd breather wouldnt be big deal, just some scratch work. Make 2 matching breathers, cut a piece of sheet styrene to match the the passenger side, then notch the hood.

While 12v's will have 2 blowers, there is a "spanner" to make a single intake and single exhaust which is typical for industrial and marine applications. On this application it originally had 1 large turbo at some point in time and they just cobbled together an exhaust. Pretty poor setup in terms of flow and resultant backpressure....but hey, its a 2 stroke Detroit and will take it.

Clayton...the Peterbilt 352 don't have a hood. ;)

I believe two breathers were more for looks than necessity.

Here is a picture I found probably on Hanks Truck Pictures site of a 12V71 in an International COE truck and it has a manifold connecting the two blowers to one intake tube and one air cleaner/breather...so it's for sure something they did.

The P&P 12V71 kit doesn't have that part or the intake elbow so you have to make them yourself.

Dual breathers on the 12v71 in Pacar trucks ie KW and Pete seems to have been the rule from everyone I've seen. Astros and Titans as well.
