guitarsam326 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I'm lookingninto building a heavy haul or oilfield truck and all I have is 1/25 stuff and I was wondering if the italeri and/or revell frames are generic? And would a 1/24 frame be a good fit with a 1/25 cab to resemble a heavier frame? Thanks in advance guys!
Petetrucker07 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Right off it would have to be narrowed. The taller frame would be a good idea for a heavy hauler. I'm sure there would be a few other issues but not major.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) I would go with one of AITM resin frames myself. I have three Revell / Italeri trucks and all have broken frames in the center as they seem really thin and weak . http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/kt9frame.html or if your going really long http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/hd9cruiselinerframe.html Or build your own. Yeah, same here. I have three Italeri/Revell reboxes that all have broken framerails.
Fat Brian Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 You can build the frame from Evergreen strips and make it much stronger than kit parts. The C-channel they make is too thin but you can make your own to the height you need.
guitarsam326 Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Thanks fellas, I've never built italeri or revell kits even though I have some, but thanks for the info!
scale trucker Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 ive built a few and had no frame issues. and yes the cab from a 1/25 will fit with minor tweeks.
