Don B Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) Hi Everyone, After I finished the 68 Charger R/T conversion I thought I would take a break. Didn't happen. I had to start the 69 Dart kit. The interior is finished and I just shot the chassis with MCW 69 Dodge Copper Metallic Lacquer and I will use the same color for the body. Here are some pics of my progress so far. Hope you like it. As always comments welcome. Edited February 19, 2008 by Don B

Ponti Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Hi Don, love the look of this. How do you paint your dash? to give all the detail, would love to be able to get mine looking this real.
Don B Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Hi Ponti, Thanks. I used BMF for the trim. A Keith Marks decal for the speedo and a 18/0 brush to detail the radio and knobs.

Don B Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Hey Everyone, Got the body parts in primer today. Sanded and ready to paint. Only setback is we have a thunderstorm moving in. Looks like I have to wait to spray. Guess it's detail time on some other parts.
evilone Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 nice no what would really kick it off is a cowl hood,a huge hemi, and fat slicks

Don B Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Hi Everyone, Well since it rained today and stopped my plans to paint the body parts I decided to work on the chassis. Here are a few pics of the mockup. Well back to work. Or should I say back to play!
FordRodnKustom Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Incredible detail Don! I like the factory style paint daubs on the diff.
Don B Posted February 16, 2008 Author Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Hi Again Everyone, Well I finished the Engine for the GTS. I was going to do a 383 factory stock build but decided to go with a 440 Magnum. Mopower!!! and do it as a early 70's Saturday Night Special like you would see on the streets back then. Also got the body parts painted and is in the dehydrator now. Here are some pics of the mill. Hope you like them. Edited February 16, 2008 by Don B
FordRodnKustom Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Good job Don. We don't often see a Hi Po wedge with one 4BBL anymore. I like it! BTW nice texture on the air cleaner
Don B Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Hi Everyone, Well I finally got the body painted in MCW 69 Dodge Copper Metallic Lacquer and clear coated with PPG clear. Time for the BMF treatment so back to work for now. Here are some pics. Dont mind the dust.
Don B Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Thanks Dirk, That PPG Lacquer is really great to work with.
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Yea, I need to advance my paints, all ive used is testors spray can and ive had more bad experiences with it than good, so im going a different route from now on

I used Testors on my 68 Charger R/T Conversion and had to put it in the purple pond and start over. Then I used a PPG Urethane Clear on it. Pics of it should still be under glass somewhere on page 3. Testors clear and I dont get along at all. Automotive paint is the only way to go for me. Edited February 19, 2008 by Don B
Darrell Gwinn Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Yea, i liked that 68, it looks good. Ill have to experiment with some paints and see what works for me, itll be a while since its so cold and i dont have a place to paint! I guess thats why my projects are piling up, i get to the point where i need to paint then i cant so i move on to the next...
Don B Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 We have a really bad time with high humidity here in FL. So lacquer can be a problem on certain days. Thats when I use the urethane.
