numbersman
Does anyone in the USA sell real Aluminum Fuel Tanks and Wheels for sale in 1/25 or 1/24 scale? If they do please let me know.
High octane
To make my wheels, front bumpers, and Moon tanks look like aluminum. I just spray Testors Dull-Cote over the chrome and it works for me.
BigBad
I haven't seen anybody sell these in the US except Sourkrout, except they don't always have interesting items such as those. So not much luck there. The only other source I've seen selling aluminum items like fuel tanks and wheel WAS KFS in Britain. That is WAS because they don't hold these products anymore. You might try Auslowe in Australia (I know these guys are all over the globe...) Good luck with your search. rcdave
I got some really nice ones custom made from MoLuminum about 8 months ago for a truck I'm working on now. He was busy and I had to wait awhile but I wasn't in a hurry. He dosn't advertise I just kept seeing his name when I was lookin at model trucks so I googled him and found an email but I no longer have it. He also makes really nice air cleaners. Ben
Your in luck, Jim at Micro Nitro makes a few different semi truck wheels that I designed. Jim is a member here in the group. http://www.micronitro.net/semi.htm I have also designed regular lug nuts and "acorn" style lug nuts to fit the wheels and these are made by Robert Bently of RB Motion. http://www.rbmotion.com/ Doug Walker in Canada just had some really nice six hole Alcoa wheels found on Kenworth's. He had a lot of them machined but I'm not sure if he still has any left? I can ask him if your interested. Have a look at my Fotki site in the album titled "Model Truck Wheels" and you'll see pics of these aluminum wheels as well as several resin wheels I have mastered and offer for sale. www.public.fotki.com/lotso Edited January 13, 2013 by Ben
Ben
On the fuel tanks, the absolute best tanks I've ever seen are made by Jamie Rahmoeller (Mofugger Aluminum). He has made me quite a few sets to my specifications and they're gorgeous! I'm not sure if he's offering them right now but I can check with him. He's on this forum as well so he may even see this post.
Yahshu
I can vouch for Jim @ Micro Nitro's wheels, Jim will even do custom wheels for a price. Ben's being modest as he does some top notch hubs for Jims wheels. These are Jim's wheels, Ben's hubs & RB Motion's stud nuts, the fuel tanks were made by Peter a friend of mine http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=60353&hl= Jim's custom wheels which he done for me with RB Motions accorn nuts http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66451&hl=

studioman3
I have bought some alluminum tanks on Ebay, but they were solid and very heavy, Jamie from Moluminum makes his hollow so they are light, He does top notch work.
Q tip
I got a set on 10 from Spaulding trading and shipping.I payed 10 or15 bucks for the set. Be warned they DO need cleaned up and polished but they are worth it. I used dish soap and a sos pad to clean them then chased with aluminum wheel polish.
