Modelhaus' '72-80 Dodge 6' short box conversion

27 December 2013 - 01:57 AM

I just got my order from Modelhaus a few days ago and thought I'd share my initial thoughts on what I received.
First of all, I ordered the complete '72-80 6' short box conversion kit, which includes the box, tailgate, chrome taillight housings and red taillight lenses. Everything is crisp in detail and the body lines line up perfectly to the LRE's body. I will, however, shave the raised mouldings off of it, along with the raised lettering. I have never worked with resin before so I will have to read up on how to clean, glue and paint it properly. I guess that is my review. I am very pleased with the mold-quality of the parts...they look fantastic and definitely worth the money!

1977 Dodge D-100 replica of my 1/1

17 June 2013 - 05:29 PM

Hey everybody, I am here to build a replica of my new truck I just bought a week ago. It's a 1977 Dodge D-100 with a stepside, slant six and 3 on the tree. It's got very minimal rust on the body and needs a little patch work on the floors, but it's not bad. It runs and drives wonderfully!

I now can start building my AMT/ERTL 1978 Dodge Lil Red Express to replicate my truck, and I just bought another kit on eBay to replicate what I want it to look like when I'm finished...then I can look at it and that will be my drive to build it in 1/1 scale as well!

First off, here's the actual truck:

Here's the kit I'll be building to replicate it (just bought some parts for it online, including an interior bucket with a bench seat!)

And the engine I ordered online:

I hope to be starting the project soon. I also ordered some police wheels from a Revell '70 Road Runner kit too. Stay tuned folks!

Just thought I'd show off what I got in the mail today...

I bought the GTA and Berlinetta on eBay this week, and I found the Iroc-Z on an F-body forum. I also snagged a 1/8 Iroc-Z from eBay this week that should be here any day now. The Berlinetta, as far as I can tell, is minus the instruction booklet, decals and two wheels/tires...possibly more, but I don't have the instruction booklet to figure it out. The GTA and Iroc-Z are open but complete. The 1/8 Iroc-Z has been minimally started, but he said he disassembled what he had done and put the parts in bags, and he said it's complete as well. I got all 4 of these kits for about $260 shipped, so not bad at all!

DIY paint booths...post what you are using!

Im in need of a paint booth (roommate is sick of smelling spray paint in the house) and would like to see some designs so I can get an idea of how I want to build one. Thanks guys!

Dodge Ram "ACR" *interior almost done!*

31 January 2013 - 03:03 PM

Hey guys/gals, I'm building this for a contest...I'm combining the Revell Dodge Ram VTS kit with the Revell Viper SRT-10 ACR to make a road race ready truck. My plans are to replace the tired old Viper GTS V-10 engine (450 hp/490 tq) with the updated SRT-10 version (600 hp/560 tq), seats, steering wheel and gauges from the SRT-10 Viper will be found in the Ram's cabin, the suspension will be dropped, brakes from the SRT-10 Viper will be installed, and wheels/tires will be updated. The spoiler from the Viper may or may not find it's way onto the hard bed cover...we'll see how it looks. I already mocked up the SRT-10 Viper engine to the Ram's frame and with VERY small modification, it will drop right in! This should be quite an easy build and fun as well. I'm excited to see how it turns out! Stay tuned...

Engine/trans mockup (all mounts are pretty much exactly the same...just a little shaving and it will drop right in!)

Viper ACR hood on top of the Ram hood...yes, I will be molding the scoop (not vents) into the Ram hood!

Found a set of tires that, with some mods to the wheels, will fit the Viper ACR wheels.

The bottom tire is the Ram tire, and the top tire is the tire I found in my stash.

Left is the Viper ACR wheel with stock tire, and right is the Viper ACR wheel in the "stash" tire.
