VictorSmalls
After doing some reading and commenting on some of the projects others have going on, I thought I would post one myself. Its been about 15 years since I have worked on a model so bear with me. I started a 04 GTO and this 61 Ranchero at the same time and will be posting pics of the GTO in the near future. I have gone just about as far as I can until I get my detail stuff in the mail from TowerHobby.com. I am looking to take this to my first show on Nov. 4th and then to my first meet with a local club in my area on Nov. 11. Any comments are welcome. dub
VERY NICE! I love the two-tone paint. I've got one of those on my bench too. It's on hold until I get the front bumper/grille figured out. (I can't stand the one in the kit) I would like to find one with a straight bumper instead of the notch in the middle . I may just modify the one I have... I am doing a similar paint scheme with black down the center and a different color framing it. Looks like your masking job was a good one . That's the only thing scaring me in this one! What did you use? Also to throw another question out, what for engine plans do you have? Sorry to babble but that just means I really dig it! Thanks much for the reply. I painted the car with Model Masters Light Toreador Red Metallic lacquer along with Black lacquer covered with Ultra Gloss Clearcoat. I used green 3m automotive painting tape. The black ran into the red and needed alot of work to get her the way I wanted her. Next time I will paint the car color, mask off, spray the body color over the tape, and then paint my stripe. That would help with the running. I do not have many spare parts since i just got back into this, but will be running the stock motor with all of the detailing and wiring. The wheels are out of the AMT Rides 66 Nova. I will be using bigs and skinnies on that car so I just took those.

The stuff is awesome and you get a very clean mask line. That red is gorgeous. Is this that new line of paint that we don't get up here in Canada Model Master Lacquer in the can. VictorSmalls
I have finally finished up with moving to a new apartment and finished up this Ranchero. Nothing special but a good start for getting back into the hobby. I will be trying the mentioned method of spraying clear over my masking tape to keep the second color from running.
