1971 Plymouth Road Runner 1/25

1972 Satellite

I am attemping the chassis swap from the '71 Charger kit. My photos can explain it better than I can. I have seen this done to '73-'74 Plymouth, but not a '71-'72 Plymouth. Also I have not decided on a color yet. Open to suggestions.

My spray booth is in a picture. I have been thinking about putting some working drawings on here for some time. I built it with plywood and poplar. I think it could be made for cheap but it requires lots of circ saw cutting.

Just one thing guys...if you're using the Revell '71 GTX, that is 1/24th scale. The '71 Charger from AMT is 1/25th. You might see some size issues with the engine and so forth....

I like the mods myself...I have a few '71 Chargers left in my stash to build but will definitely be scrapping one to mod the '73 Roadrunner kit i plan on building...Great job so far!

Yeah, I know. This is the MPC '71 that is in 1/25th. The Monogram has some parts worth stealing, but I do not like the pointy nose on that kit.

Quick update. The color choice was very hard, cause '70-'71 had some of the best colors Chrysler ever offered. I went with a gunmetal that I liked, over the butterscotch and plum crazy that my buddy suggested. I have a bit of painters remorse, but I will make the most out of this and then try again later. Next time you see it will be Under Glass. The decals are Kieth Marks by the way.

The hood comes from the MPC '72 Road Runner kit. I figured someday I will have to build an Air-Grabber '72 RR GTX car, much like the one on the cover of Hemmings Muscle Machines this month. It will be sky blue like the 1:1 car I have in the Garage. Your '74 looks very moparry. I invented that word, kinda like the term chevyized when describing the engine with anodized hardware and moroso valve covers. :D

i think when i build that car i dubbed it "muscle made modern"

still lots of chrome and 440 sixpack power but with a modern paintjob and tainted windows (still looking for window tint)
