For those of you that have been trying to figure out how, Here is how, I used the handle from a disposable razor . I measured the correct slats , Cut and filed them to shape, Painted them with Black primer, And used BMF for the chrome. So if anyone is interested in making a 68-69 Cutlass, Or Cutlass S out of any of the kits and resin kits out, Here is the way to make the grills, The razors can be found at various drug stores, You just have know what to look for , Mine was molded in Blue, I also seen the same pattern on a pack of womens razors molded in pink.oldsgrill1.jpgoldsgrill2.jpg

Here is another photo of the front of the car, And the Olds 350, I used Duplicolor "Buckskin" Metallic for the color, it has a touch of a bronze shading in the gold, Which according to my refference photos is the proper color, The 400's were a color called "Rame Metallic" That color is a reddish bronze color, The 455's were red, Starting in 1970, Those were Olds engine blue, The 350's were the same color gold I used up untill around 75 or 76.oldsgrill3.jpgoldsengine1.jpg

You seem to be one of those resourceful people who sees model-use potential in everything (a commendable trait I seem to lack). Looks like this project will be worth watching. I appreciate your posting the olds engine color info too, as that can be confusing.

If you don't mind, I'm hoping you will explain what you're doing with the headlights. In the third picture, it appears that you've cut them out and backstopped the hole with flat, white styrene. If memory serves, this is one of the few kits MPC designed that has headlight recesses and engraved clear lenses to cover them, as opposed to their usual chrome-plated headlights molded with the rest of the grille. Was MPC that far off or is this a 442 / Cutlass "S" difference?

The bumper is the same, No modifications at all, It's just the lighting , These kits have the seperate clear lenses, The grills be it the 442, Or the ones that I made are seperate parts, I used the original issue 69 442 by MPC/ERTL, For this car, If I remember the only annual 69 442 made was by Jo-Han, the only difference in the Cutlass , Cutlass S ,And the 442 was the grills, Only on the 442, And engine sizes. My friends 69 Cutlass S he owned had a 455 out of a 70 Toronado in it, There was also the W-31 Olds, those were basicly the Cutlass set up like the 442, The only difference was the 350 in it, The 400 was in the 442, But anything was possible back then. There may have been a 350 powered 442 back then, I know in 72 they had one. For the emblems ,I'll be using the excellent Missing Link Photoetch set. ,I would like to make this with a single exhaust also, But I can't remember what side it ran out the back on.
