crowe-t
Does anyone know what color the C3 Corvettes' undercarriage(chassis) was painted at the factory? More specifically the late 70's - early 80's C3's. Was it in primer with over spray from the body or black? If primer then what shade? I think GM used a dark gray primer but I'm not too sure. Len Woodruff
My 78 has the frame and components painted chassis black. The body floor is fiberglass but I don't see any over spray.

Len Woodruff
Well mine is 35 years old. But usually I paint those sections med to dark gray since that is the primer they used.
Monty
I'm going to agree with Len about the frame amd suspension. This old post of mine might be of some help. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70200&p=869450 From everything I've seen, the fiberglass flooring left the factory raw (unpainted). crowe-t
Thanks guys! Monty, Your old thread was a big help. I think a dark gray, like German Gray or Engine Gray, will do the trick for the floor pans. Edited September 17, 2013 by crowe-t

The bottom of the interior "tub" appears to be a lighter gray, and at this stage of assembly, it's doubtful that any other painting will be done. Here's a pic from a '74. Semi-gloss black frame rails and raw fiberglass. If we're lucky, maybe one of our resident geniuses will show us how to replicate raw fiberglass in 1/25 scale. You need really fine strands of fibre so first shave a kitten... Looking at that pic i'd stipple as many different greys as I had.
