Were these kits ever made?

15 December 2010 - 03:55 AM

I am trying to find a few kits but am having problems.

First one is a 1970 Ford F-100 pickup. I have found a 72 resin kit on ebay but it has the wrong grill.

Second I am trying to find a 1967 Toyota land cruiser.

Third is a 1950 dodge truck.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have been wondering what kind of lights and wiring/batterys people use when making cars lights work and for diorama lights.

I am thinking about making working lights on a car and I want my first diorama to have some lighting too.

Looking for interest...........POLL

24 November 2010 - 05:53 PM

I got this idea brewing, I know I have not been here long but I got an idea and just wanted to pass it by everyone.

If there is enough interest we could start this one up soon.

Here is my idea......

A movie automobile community build/contest

The builds would have to be as close as possible to any vehicle that starred in a movie, It don't matter if its showroom excellent or a piece of junk, as long as it was in a movie. I am thinking to limit this one to either cars, vans, suvs, and pickups.
It would also be cool to add a screenshot of your build so everyone knows what you would be shooting for.

Now for the contest part, If this is ok with the admin and everyone else, At the end date of the build I would start another poll thread showing all the vehicles completed and all the people on here can vote for their favorite. For the winner I will buy a 1 year subscription to Model Cars Magazine( heck I dont even have one yet lol).

So if this is ok with everyone and there is enough intrest I will start this one soon.

Lets hear your thoughts!!

First build in many years

20 November 2010 - 04:18 PM

This is my first build in about 13 years. I figured being a truck driver I better do a truck!!

I have been working on it a few days now and the way the body attached to the frame, I figured I had to do some body work so I did the interior and put that in then
attached the cab to the frame. I then added a little filler and primed and painted it.

The paint I used is High Heat Engine paint, It comes in a spray can. I do not yet have an airbrush so this was the only route I could go to get
the paint color I wanted.

I do not know anything about painting to get good results. I was thinking of doing a clear coat but do not know the process with sanding and polishing.

This is pretty much my dream truck, I am going to try to find a nice headache rack for it and a flatbed trailer.

Ok now time for some pics!!!
