  1. I'd like to add... wall2wallhobbies to the list of sellers. He has great 3D products plus decals and kits on eBay. Super nice guy and easy to work with.... check him out! Based out of North Carolina.
  2. From what I've seen and or heard, there has been a standing debate about styrene kits vs resins being side by side in shows. Now a new kid is in town with 3D printing. If your "traditional" model builders assemble a kit as box stock, that's one category. If he modifies or customized it, that's another. But if a guy uses custom parts from a 2 or 3 in 1 kit, it's custom, but he didn't make the parts, and still is box stock or custom?? Resins are designed and made from existing items or scratch built. 3D is the same, just newer technology. It's designed, printed, and assembled....to whatever end. I would think and hope that builds are judged on quality of build, paint, and detail. Not necessarily presentation, content, or build material. And no I haven't judged anything, but to me these are the basics that should be looked at. And as far as dedicating immense amounts of time to the craft, so do resin builders and now 3D creators. There is still a lot of prep work, fit up, and scratch building that has to be done. And how many "traditional" guys are using resin or 3D parts in their builds? All in all, the hobby needs encouragement, not discouragement! My two cents.
  3. Arrived today...Liberty Walk Lamborghini from Japan, 3D resin Corvair Lakewood Wagons from wall2wallhobbies.....on EBay out of North Carolina. Super nice guy, kits, decals, etc......great products!!!
  4. Small update.... forgot to clean the debris before taking the pics, but added the master cylinder and full hydro steering. The hydro cylinder fought me the whole way! Tried to add brake lines....but my heavy..fingers kept knocking other stuff off!! The lines off the master cylinder...go nowhere (Bluetooth). After fixing umpteen items, this is where it stands. (NO brake lines!) Hood was re-re-painted, need to buy some clear to match the rest of the body. I decanted two partial rattle cans for the airbrush, I think it's a shade lighter, but we'll see.(Sorry..no pic of the hood)
  5. First look with wheel package installed, body loosely fitted. Had to shorten the axles, my eyecrometer was off when I cut the axel tubes.
  6. A little update, machined center caps for the wheels. I didn't even think about it until I bought a second set from someone else that came with them.
  7. Some more items added to the collection of to-do's. Two of the Commando kits are for parts.
  8. I have tried Alclad and lately SMS. I believe them to be similar, in that there's a fine line between just enough and too much. Too much results in the dull look. I have a lot of experimenting to do yet? The higher end automotive ones look to have better results, but much pricier.
  9. Eduardo brand makes several PE styles of "mesh". I am looking for a hexagon type and if you can't find someone in the US that has it, shipping from them was like $26.
  10. Got a few pieces from VCG Resins yesterday. Some for the current Suburban build, the rest are future needs.
  11. The only thing I can figure, It's got to be something with the difference between materials and how they react to hotter paints. I would have thought the primer would have equalled the playing field..... It did seem to disappear after polishing the clear, but I noticed it again the other day. I am contemplating painting the roof white and/or adding the roof rack....
  12. Farm tractor, lawn tractor, tractor - trailer, each with many variations....
  13. I posted this the other day, but it disappeared some how. Got in a wheel set for my Ring Brothers Javelin, which I will modify for correct backspacing. Also, who doesn't need a Whipple charged LS!
