Very first 1:1 car revisited

06 September 2011 - 10:22 AM

This next build Im doing is of the first love of my life. My very first car. I had seen it sitting in an uncles field and had been parked there for years. We bought it and my step dad and I brought it back to life. I am looking forward to building this one and the memories it brings back. I will be building it a little beefer than mine was. Mine was not bone stock but I will go beyound what mine was. I will be building this one the way I always dreamed I could have built mine!!
I am starting with the AMT 1971 Ford Mustang Mach1. I can tell it will need to be readied as it has some amount of flash and mold lines. I will TRY and take pics as I go. Wish me luck as I am not as skilled as some of you guys, but will do my best.

New twist on "On The Workbench" (Update 8/25)

17 August 2011 - 07:32 PM

I am a drawer, painter and most of all a wood carver. I havent built a model in 20+ years. Wow has the hobby changed, for the good I might ad. Instead of just posting as I get started I wanted to draw the car first. I used the drawings supplied with the model as a basis. I am using the Revell 49 Merc. I have always loved them and would dream of owning a 1:1. Anyways on to the kit.

And what I want it to look like. I have not finished the drawing yet and probablly wouldnt but my son wants it when I am done. I have started the kit but will post pics a bit later. this is my FIRST attempt at an on the bench project and I am not used to taking pics as I go so I will do my best. Here the Posted Imagedrawing. Let me know what you guys think.

I would love to hear some of you guys that have been into building for a while. My father and i both use to build yearssss ago and I am just now trying to get back into it. MAN.....the leaps that building has taken over the years. I am amazed at what i see being done now. Anyways, Would any of you guys give us a step by step as to how you start and what steps you take next......Not asking for details on each one, just the steps you take. Like First hing I do is wash the model,Next I paint parts I know that are going to be painted, then I ...... next i...... something along these lines.
