  1. I guess it depends on who's engine kits you're talking about. The Kitchen Table Resin engine kits are separate pieces just like a model kit. So you would paint them as you normally would and detail them as you choose. If the pieces are all cast together it definitely would make the build more difficult. Sorry I can't help more but it seems that you have the right idea. Paint what you can separately, assemble it and then finish the detail painting. Ken Visit My Website
  2. Nice work but that AVATAR has got to go. LOL.
  3. Richard, Thanks, they have two less now. There was still one on the shelf when I left. By the way, I'm a member of the Front Range Automotive Modelers here in Colorado Springs. If you are interested you are welcome to join us. Our next meeting is the 21st of August. That's a week from next Tuesday. We meet at 7:00 PM. If you're interested let me know and I'll send you directions. Ken
  4. I think I made them 6 and 8 inches. But I think it's a matter of what works for you. You might even add a third row that was 4 inches for shorter stuff.
  5. Thanks for the compiments. Coming from you that means alot. As to the pics no I didn't change a thing. I posted from the same place you posted these. So I'm not at all sure what happened.
  6. I thought I share this with you guys. Here's how I store and organize all those loose strips and sticks of stuff. Ken Hamilton was kind enough to print this in his tips column in SA a couple of issues ago. I had a leftover piece of 2 inch pipe from a home improvement project. So I cut it into several lengths and glued it up as you see it. It makes it much easier to find that piece I'm looking for.
  7. Don't know what's going on I can't see them now either. Must be Fotki. Here's the link to my Fotki site. Take a look at them there. Visit My Website
  8. I'd suggest the Model King 79 F150. You can even choose to build it 2wd or 4wd.
  9. You are correct sir. The fenders, tires and wheel rims are from the MPC Lincoln. I scratch built the wheel discs and the bed was cut down from the Opel Blitz.
  10. Ok, I've been here a couple of weeks now. I think I've figured out how to reply and post. I've even been successful posting pictures. What I don't understand is why sometimes I have to re-login and sometimes I don't. Also sometimes in the middle of a reply I seem to lose my login. What am I doing wrong?
  11. I'm constantly amazed at the details I see in a photo that I don't see by looking at the model. Sometimes I think I'd be better off focusing a camera on my bench and then using the monitor to see what I'm doing. This is a beautiful build. Keep the pictures coming.
  12. Which Walmart in the Springs? I've check the one at Chapel Hills and the one at Powers and Woodmen and no luck
  13. Here's another one I finished last year. It's a 1929 Ford AA Stakebed. The wheels are scratch built.
  14. I thought I'd share some larger images of my Avatar. This started out as a stress relief squeeze toy that I had on my desk. And then one day inspiration struck. Probably because I was thinking more about modeling than working. Anyway I call this piece "Your Brain on Styrene".
  15. This is another older build. I based it on a review of the real truck in Collectible Automobile. I used the Beverly Hillbillies truck as the starting point with a lot of scratchbuilding. Here's the mockup. You can see the image of the real truck in the background. Here are the major components prior to final assembly. And the final in my showroom.
  16. Some of you may know me from the HHMB. A couple of years ago I started casting Ford inline 6 engines. I had to stop for awhile. I am now back in business and casting engines again. Here are some pics of what I offer and the link to my Fotki account so that you can see the rest. You can contact me at kitchen_table_resins@yahoo.com for further info. OHV 6 Engine used in 53-60 Ford cars and trucks. Falcon 6 54 F-100 grille. Either the V8 or I6 version available. Visit My Website
  17. It took awhile for the size to show up correctly on my system. But it did eventually. I guess I have it figured out now. At least for now.
  18. This is another recent completion. It's a modified diecast. This was a Danbury Mint Coca Cola truck. I got it off ebay. It was pretty much striped. No coke cases, no seats, floorboard etc. I'm using the cola delivery body on another project so I thought I'd build this up as a stake bed. The decals on the doors are from the new issue of the 41 Chevy pickup. The bed is from the C-600 stakebed.
  19. Sorry for the huge pics. What did I do wrong? They looked good in the preview.
  20. Here's a recent completion. It's based on a what if concept drawing that someone posted on the HHMB. Beside Cougar is my Mustang Coupe concept. Personally I think Ford should consider this one.
