Thank you Mark. I will see if I can find one of the resin hardtops if I can't find the convertible.

    !963 Falcon

I am looking for a 1963 Falcon 2 door or convertable kit to build. I can make the 2 door into a convertable if I have to but would rather have the convertable kit.
  4. I am an old geezer and have modeled some when younger. Smooth was for how to get gals. For a model paint it on thick and you filled the surface, it worked but didn't look great. Then came my woodworking and cabinet building and that was where I learned to sand, sand, and sand some more. My granddaddy was a tool and die maker in the 1930's and his work had to be perfect. He worked metal so he used end mills, lathes and that kind of tools. He would get a piece done and before taking it out of the machine he had a thin pair of leather gloves that he put on and a little oil to help the suppleness of the leather and he felt around the piece. If it had z burr the glove would snag and hold and he knew more work and he could also feel the high and low spots. The same applied to the wood. When you think you are ready to finish you don't need the gloves but your hands will feel things your eye even in the best light can not see. That is why blind people always are touching. You can tell color with your hands just from how warm or cool something feels a lot of the time. When you are ready to paint your model wash it well and let it dry. Then put on a pair of gloves and rub over your pieces and if they still need work you can do it without ruining a paint job because of something your eyes missed. Hands seldom lie about your work.
  5. After seeing the diorama I think I will go another route on the garage. I am going to use foam core board available at Walmart for he walls and floor. It is old school scratch building and cheaper to. I will have more money to spend on vehicles.
  6. does anyone know if they ever made a model of the 1968 Chrysler 300 4dr hardtop?
  7. Thanks to everyone that replied to me. I do know that the boxes may say one thing and contain something a little different and about the tools being in the one. Gus it was the dame way in the 50's when I built my first model car. Some things never change.
  8. I am looking at the Fujimi garage and tool kits and was wondering if anyone on here had built the kit? Is it good, is it easy or hard to build, is it worth the price or anything else you can think of. Also how big is it I can't seem to find that out. I am building a 74 Ford Lightning and a 66 Fairlane GTA and the auto trailer and was wanting to build up a garage for them and was wondering if the Fujimi kit would fill the bill so to speak.
  9. Any possibility of the decals for the Ford F150s from the 1994 Indy 500?
  10. Hi, I am Gene and I live in the great state of Arkansas and no I am not a Razorback fan. I really don't like sports as they are so boring in reality. An 80 minute basketball game last 3 hours and is more like football anymore, football takes so long to play it is a great time to nap between plays and MLB is like watching grass grow at least to me. I like woodworking but I have COPD and can't do that anymore and so I was needing something to do. In high school and college and the first years of being married I built model cars and really liked it but my interests changed to HO scale model railroads. The other day I was in the local Wallyworld and saw a model of a 1994 Lightning and bought it. It was 27 dollars and some change. The last time I bought one I think it was abut 5 dollars or less. I found my old railroad modeling tools and got them out and figured out what I needed and bought all of that. My how prices have gone up on this stuff but I bought it anyway. I mostly enjoy building stock or slightly modified cars and trucks. The only non American cars I build are Ferraris and other exotic sports cars and open wheel racers. I stay away from MoPar as they are now an Italian company. Sorry guys. I am not a great modeler but I can do a passable job at least for myself and that is all that matters to me. I am 79 years old and what others think of my work doesn't matter to me. You young guys will get here someday. I am married to my wife and we have almost 59 years in (Nov. 21, 1963 which was the day before JFK was shot in Dallas) and we are t5rying to make 100 but probably won't make that but it sure is fun trying. Y'all have a great day.
  11. I have found one and it is on its way to me, I think. Thank you for the help.
  12. I found one and as far as AMT reissiueing it is fhey did it is not on their website as I looked last week. Thank you all.
  13. I used bleach on the smaller parts that were chromed and it worked lick a charm. I am going to try to coat a piece with some vaseline and see if it will mask the chrome I need to leave.
  14. Let me know if you have it. I don't know what I have to trade that you would want but we can try.
  15. I know AMT made a kit for this car and have seen it on there literature but evidently it has been discontinued and I would like to find a kit preferably not build but even a built on would do. I want to make a replica of the one I had in 1966.
  16. I just want to thank all that responded to my question. I got some great ideas and I may try all of them at one time or another.
  17. I am done with it. As far as the spouse and the opinion y'all haven't even begun to find out about that. I have believe me. On November 21 it will be 59 years. I have heard just about every opinion there is. Some good, some great and most I could really have done without.
  18. I am building a 1994 Ford Ligthning pick up and the grilll in the kit is chromed and on the real pickup it was painted the body color. How do I paint it? Do I have to strip off the chrome or scuff it up to get the paint to stick? I am 79 and I build models when I was in high school but this is the first one in over 60 years. Wish me luck.
