  1. If there is no running list of places to get models and parts on the forum and good and bad reps they have I think we should start one. I can research the net when I have time and see the places I can come up with. I have seen a few that I have not seen listed yet on the forum.
  2. Hey, gotta have ugly trucks to counteract the nice ones right?
  3. Ok guys. Check this link. http://www.gaasedal.dk/eng/Trucks/Mack_RS700L_Rubber_Duck.html I would love to be able to build trucks like this with Legos. Need more legos though. This and 1/24 scale modeling would be great.
  4. Hey pic didn't show up for me. What is it? I am an Artist and good at visual aesthetics so I might be able to throw a few ideas your way.
  5. Now I can find all kinds of pics with that model number. That is the one definately. Thanks a million. Until I start the model I can sketch it up.
  6. Hey, guys. Great info. Keep it coming. I also would like some 60s style too. My Dad used to have this awesome tandem axle 1963 White COE with a 225 horse CAT and a 16 speed hotstick. Anyone know where to get this cab. I would like tobuild this truck. Might have to scratch build it. Any idea what model this would be? Can't find pics. Thanks. Anyone else got pics of old rigs they built. I also like 60s trucks too.
  7. Oh and if anyone needs detailed (As good as I can get without knowing dimensions of a 37 Dodge COE) stuff like how the Texaco symbols on the fender skirts are in direct line with the axles just shoot me an message. I will edit these a few more times lol. The truck is customized with early 40s GM Headlights and other stuff so it is not an exact replica it was designed as a Hotrod or a Concept truck Dodge could have built.
  8. God, I love old rigs. As an Auto Artist I have 2 1950 Chevy COE's designed (Though I have thought of using the old Cannonball GMC) I want to build real life ones. One is styled as an Airstream style motorhome and the other is my shop wrecker for when I build my Rod shop. They are both tandem axles. These would be some awesome models. I also have a design for a 1937 Dodge COE Tanker with a full Art Deco Theme. I love Art Deco style. So does anyone know if anyonehas produced a cab for the COE or GMC Cannonball of the Late 40s Early 50s. I suppose a regular pickup cab might be able to be hacked into one since that is pretty much all they are. I love to draw cars and rigs. Mostly classics. Here is my 38 Dodge If any of you builders want to give it a shot go ahead. Just remember who designed it. lol. This is a link to my art work: http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj291/ARTEMIS1759/Art%20Work/ I will get the COE's as soon as I can. Also, here is a link to my LEGO Rigs I built here in Kosovo: http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj291/ARTEMIS1759/LEGOs%20in%20Kosovo%202010/ Here is my recent COE Lowboy with a CAT on the back. And my triple axle And here is my link if you want to check all my albums out. Maybe other things you like. Classic Cars, Military Trucks, WWII airplanes etc. http://s275.photobucket.com/home/ARTEMIS1759/allalbums

I like how Autocar held onto an Art Deco design. This truck is killer.
  10. Almost thought you were my dad there for a second. Lol. He has been out of the loop about that long. Do you have your old kits? My dad had about 250 of them in every style but lost most of them in a storm a few years back. He has about 50-75 left in boxes. Still trying to get him to start putting them back together. Been in storage since 86 when my sister was born. I am ND Army NG deployed in Kosovo at the moment. 21T.
  11. That is a sweet truck. Still admiring the logger on the back of the desk every picture I see of your work table. My dad has 1 of 3 left that were built that he had plus he lost one from a storm that was still in a box. He used real logs for it.
  12. Hey, nice. Hope I can get that detailed when I get back into it. First one is the 69 Dodge single axle with the flatbed and hotrod on the back.
  13. Thanks for the replies. Yeah the rigs have almost all fallen apart. And some of course are broken so I also need to become a model surgeon.
  14. You know, now that I was thinking about it it was my Dad's Pete. Haven't seen it in a long time.
  15. I am an automotive artist. i love these old Mack's. I drew one up that had a wooden sleeper and glass lighted globes on the side with a flatbed full of budweiser wooden crates.
  16. Nice truck. The Holmes set up looks like one off the old Kenworth my dad had. Where did you get it?
  17. That is cool though the head ache rack makes me think it would be a good roll away. That is on truck my dad never had was a rollaway. A few wreckers though. But it looks great keep it up.
  18. Sweet trucks. At first I thought the pup had super singles on it.
  19. So I am a 33 year old SPC in the ND National Guard deployed in Kosovo right now. Thought I would share my story since I am a little board and also ask a few questions. As far back as I can remember my dad was building 1:24-1:25 scale trucks. I was born in 78 and he a good collection going then. I got hooked at about 8 years old. Every time a new issue of trucks, trailers and accessories came out he bought usually three of each. One to keep in the box unopened (I'll tell you about that later) and two or more to build depending on how many variations he could get out of one model. We are talking everythign. Garbage trucks, moving vans, beer trucks, mail trucks, heavy haulers, racing semi's, race car transporters. You name it he had it. And probably every model made from 74 (at least) to 85. He had an airbrush and all would get painted (probably bacause most kits came in white back then). He even had the movie rigs ie: Snowman, Rubber Duck, BJ McKay etc. He had cars for the transporters, heavy construction equipment, military tanks and jeeps, real wood logs for the loggers, chains, straps, and hoses. Well, he had them all set up on a shelving system with trailers. About 250 at least in all. When my sister came along we needed that room so he stored them in boxes about 5 wide. They got stored in my aunt's basement. Of course some trucks came up missing over the 10 or so years they were down there. Nobody has ever fessed up. The trucks missing were his mail trucks, cattle trucks and beer trucks. When he got them back he stored them in a shed that was sealed but flat line winds blew the shed away and now he has about 50-75 trucks left . Movie trucks are gone and a lot of other good ones. They are stored in a house now and as soon as I settle down I am getting my paws on them to start resurrecting them. Oh and all those still in the box ones? Gone after that storm. Not a one left. His plans which we have always talked about it is to build a huge diorama with a scale train set. Back in 7th grade I designed working buildings, like a grain elevator with operating conveyors, truck stop, service shop, construction site, etc. At the moment all I have here is a ###### load of LEGOs I bought here and I am building trucks left and right with them. Never too old for LEGO's, lol. Built a few military LEGO trucks. Now onto the questions. Can someone give me a list of companies that make the 1:24-1:25 Scale rigs and accessories. We have been out of the loop since 85? What are the best companies? I know they used to be Revell and AMT. Where do you guys get the customized parts, like cabs and stuff? My dad says he still remembers going to the local hobby shop and picking up a truck for 12 bucks and a trailer for 8, lol. Only model truck I have seen is a Level 4 or 5 difficulty quad axle wrecker for aruound 200-300 dollars. Thanks you guys for your time. Catch ya on the flip side.
  20. Good Job. This CAT Model reminds me of the ones I seen in a pic being used in Vietnam.
