  1. Oh, I love loggers. I want to build a few later on down the road.
  2. OK, a few things. Don't get me wrong you are doing an awesome job. If you want more accuracy that hole in the lower block near the oil pan rail (well represents a hole anyhow) is where the dipstick tube goes. Here is a few more pics of the 283 hp 283 you are building. Not sure if the tube you saw is like the second pic. This is what they call a road tube. Notice the oil filler on the top of the intake manifold on the schematic drawing and the others. The road tube was the old school PCV valve more or less. Gave ventilation to the engine. Also on the third one, the website I got this pic from said all 57's equipped with the 283 hp 283 fuellie had this air intake on the radiator. Just my 2 cents and help.
  3. I thought I saw on on Gone in 60 Seconds 2 today. But it was an International that was Blue with I think red, orange and yellow stripes.
  4. Thanks for the info. I am also looking into the General. The reason I like 1/24-1/25 is that is what my Dad had and I am trying to keep to that scale and from the looks of it I may have to custom build stuff I want so I may look into a cnc.
  5. How far off would 1/24-1/25 versus G scale or 1/29 look? Or say 1/20? I was looking at model trains and boats to carry on the back of an Heavy Hauler and was curious since I can't seem to find any in the sacle I like. I know it is a pretty big gap that is why I am curious. Will it be really noticable?
  6. That sucks. I think when I move to Tennessee i am going to take a few trucks with to rebuild.
  7. So is that a tilt cab truck in the back ground? J/k lol. Great job. My dad used to have a custom built set-up similar to this that had 2 gooseneck trailers. One had a boggie plate with a ball attached on the back so the back one could hook up. It was 2 44 foot goosenecks that he built to pull first behind his 63 White 7000 COE and then a couple of crewcab dualies. Used them to haul grain drill transports for the company he worked for. So what CNC machine do you use? and where can you get it?
  8. Good job, looks like a few they have here in Kosovo. Keep it up.
  9. I am actually in Kosovo right now and so sick of being here. Been here since July and home soon. I think how we should run this forum is like the one that we have over at Garage Journal. Everybody post places they have dealt with along with kits, parts and supplies they have used and give them a good rating or bad rating and if need be why.
  10. So I found out I heard my Dad wrong. The old 7000 had a 220 Cummins with the 16 speed "hotstick" which was a 5 speed trans and a 3 speed rear.
  11. Check this out. This would be a cool heavy hauler load out: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HCPCJS?tag=rocketfin-20&link_code=as2&creativeASIN=B002HCPCJS&creative=374929&camp=211189 M1 Abrahms tank I was wondering does anybody make farm implements any more and how about construction equipment? Oh, found my load out when I build a heavy hauler; http://www.amazon.com/Radio-Controlled-24th-Scale-Sherman/dp/B001JQDZYM/ref=pd_sim_dbs_t_3 Sherman Tank Baby. Or how about a Multiple Rocket Launch System: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002V2QBDA?tag=rocketfin-20&link_code=as2&creativeASIN=B002V2QBDA&creative=374929&camp=211189 And a 1:25 International TD-24 Agriculture Crawler http://www.amazon.com/Spec-cast-International-Agriculture-Crawler/dp/B001QWRPFO/ref=sr_1_89?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1276505404&sr=1-89
  12. Oh thats what that thread was. Doh. My bad lol. Getting to be a long day.
  13. That sucks. You guys over on this side of the world (I am in Kosovo right now) should set up group buys like the guys on my car websites do. Not sure if it would work but might be worth a try.
  14. Looks like it has seen lots of hay bales or lumber and if one of my uncles had it on their farm it would still be in use in probably the same condition. This is an awesome truck. Where did you get the kit?
  15. Hank's got some Tom Inman rigs here but not rainbow colored. What did they look like? http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/swickens/tom_inman_tulsa_terminal.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/wickens.htm&usg=__tU7jDL2_Usqogo1AUpxrXPrUbnU=&h=332&w=428&sz=33&hl=en&start=4&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=KVl-7GPJmRWsaM:&tbnh=98&tbnw=126&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtom%2Binman%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26ndsp%3D20%26tbs%3Disch:1
  16. Here is a couple: Leyland 4x4 Wrecker How about a Pete Monster truck? Advanced Design COE crew cab car hauler Advanced Design COE Wrecker Now mind you I love my old rigs but I got newer ones too. I like doing research so if anybody is looking for any I'll dig.
  17. Thanks for that. I fell in love with the duck after I found out that's why my dad gave me the handle "Rubber Duck" back in the day. Had to see the movie the next day. I got it on DVD now. Apparently he loved the movie lol.
  18. Another idea I had is would anybody mind if I started a thread with random truck pics for inspiration? I have pics of some pretty cool loads and trucks.
  19. If I was doing it I would do a black main theme with a say to 1:24 scale 4" stripe that goes around the middle and have it flare out twards the back of the sleeper and paint the frame red with black components. If you want blue I would do a metallic Midnight blue with about 6 coats so it is real dark. Then put a mural on the back of the sleeper. Here is another idea if you like theme truck and this would be one of a kind. NASA Freightliner http://www.stamp-n-toys.com/upload/32082_lg.jpg My dad also had a few beer trucks that were built out of the original kit. Don't see many of them anymore if at all. Also maybe for the hell of it, why not try a logging or oil rig and make it into a 4x4 or 6x6 I always thought those looked bad ass. Not sure if any were converted after the 1960s when they had those 4x4 Freightshakers COEs? Or you could try this: Kenworth 6x6 Oil rig truck http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?pid=4293805&id=701323457
  20. What sleeper did you use. I still have the original from the kit but I know that is too short too.
  21. Well, now also that I have found this site there is a lot of helpful hints and also suppliers I did not know about. May just use them if I need them. The glue is about 25-30 years old. I would like to try and salvage as much as I can with the trucks we have. Also is it possible to strip paint from styrene? By the way that is a nice replica. Should be good referrence pics. I knew about the site with the real truck. I was always fascinated with this and the Road Warrior Mack. I love Macks. I hope I can salvage most of the kits he has. Judging from the looks of yours I have the right pieces to use on mine.
  22. Thanks. His collection of Macks are pretty beat up. He has a green one that may be the R688 Kit with the longer wheel base and stuff so I started the slow meticulous process of separating pieces. Any suggestions on how to do this without breaking parts? This collection is in such sad shape. Pisses me off. He just never had a place to put them up. But I scrounged through his parts box and found most of the accessories for it that were not chrome plated including the correct wheels. Can't wait to get back from Kosovo because these trucks are on the top of my list to rebuild including buying a 72 Buick GS to restore from my squad leader.
  23. I am not sure if this has been brought up before but I was looking at my Dad's last model he as of this truck (He had 3 or 4. 3 built in different styles and one still in the box)and something looked screwy. Outside of the fact that most parts were incorrect was the Cab also the wrong model? As I recall they used the offset cab instead of the R600, am I right? Was the wheel base even long enough? Seemed a little short. What the hell were they thinking when they put this kit together? I am by no means a pro modeler but this seemed like a poor kit out of the box. He has a couple truck including the correct R600 so I am thinking of using them all and building a correct "Rubber Duck Mack Truck".
  24. Not sure if I can still help on this. But My dad has the Bandit, and though similar, I think it is different as I recall. he has about 4 or 5 race trucks like this.
