Even though I prefer shiny paint, I've been following this build and that colour really pops. Nice job

This is the next instalment of my ongoing Thunderbolt saga. The model here is my 3rd attempt at the Hubert Platt car gone wrong .
The second paint job using automotive lacquer crazed the plastic, so this was sanded smooth, reprimed and lightly dusted with colour but the 'craziness' still affected the metallic paint. A coat of Testor's Dullcoat solved that and my entry for our club's AFX/Gasser/AWB theme night was born.
The engine is from the ModelKing repop of the Dick Brannan Mustang, the front suspension was pirated from the AMT '37 Chevy roadster.

That's a great piece of work, I too have one in the 'to build' pile, still haven't plucked up the courage to start it

Great work - it is much more than just a shelf model, you should be proud. What paint did you use?

Sweet - 50's cars and turquoise were made for each other.

Very nice build - I also have one to 'retire' after messing up the decals

Nice job, looks great with those wheels

Looking good. Can't wait to see it finished. I recently did one in two tone green, but I'm not biased

Thanks for restoring the pics... now I can see what everybody else was raving about!! Stunning job

Thanks for the comments guys, it is much appreciated, especially considering some of the great builders there are on this site.
The kit must take some of the credit though, it goes together really well and the fit of the hood is perfect.

Nice job, beautiful paint.

Superb weathering and engine detailing

This is a recent build before I joined the forum. Paint is Tamiya rattlecan, Dark Blue Metallic over Blue/Violet.
The build is box stock except for plug wires and scratchbuilt sidetrim.
Thanks for looking.

Awesome build, awesome paint, just....awesome!

That's a really sharp little Fairlane Paul! I love the color of it. Do you know the number of the Tamiya blue by chance?
Thanks Roger. I used a Tamiya rattle can TS19 Metallic Blue

Excellent build, I liiiiike it!

I like this and I liked your Starliner too (I think there was a brown convertible at the GNRS last week) so please don't lose heart - we are all on a learning curve, no matter how well we build.
