Scale I Build

Found 9 results

  1. My first build of 2018. I need a break from chrome, now! I added a frenched antenna, parts box wheels, modified grill and used a mask, for the flames. A Detail Master PE set topped it off. I hope you like it
  2. I've had this on my shelf for a couple of years, always planning to build it stock. But I found a flame mask I bought a while back and I've got an urge to try it out. I found some deep steel wheels, in my parts box and some nice tyres, too. I'm using the custom suspension included in the kit and I don't think I'll need to cut it about to get the ride height I'm after.
  3. I am using the AMT 57 Corvette frame and engine under the AMT 55 Corvette body because I feel the 57 frame is overall superior to what comes in the 53/55 kits. I have the front spindles in so I could see how it would sit. Overall look Rear close up Front close up I also did some boring things like paint the engine, sand some on the body, etc.. The AMT 57 Corvette frame really works great on the 55 body. Thanks for looking.
  4. Just before i start this, i, like my cousin am a rookie at modeling, i have only built a few but i couldnt pass up the opportunity to try to get this model looking reasonable, i love chevy gassers and so will try to fix this with what limited knowledge i have. So this weekend my little cousin gave me this model of his, it was fairly complete but its the first model he ever made and its in such a state. Below are all the parts i got with it, he tried to make some rusty 2 lane black top style chevy, but it really hasnt turned out well. (the pictures arent great, the rust is darker than that and doesnt look too bad, for some reason the camera has made the pictures a lot lighter than they should be.) Im not really sure where to start on the car tbh, there was some big holes on the engine which i managed to fill with some scraps of plastic i had and im in the process of getting the paint off. I think i will have to re-make the rear leaf springs as they have split in the middle and are covered in glue and one of the wheels has snapped of the rear axle so i dunno what to do about that. i also dont know what to do about the firewall that he, for some reason, cut out and the terribly cut out door. There is also a lot of glue on the front and rear window and im not sure how to get it off. Thanks for reading, updates to come.
  5. This is my first build in almost 30 years. I'm actually building a kit that I bought back in the 80's (better late than never, right?). I built it once back then and I remember it being a total pain because of ill-fitting parts. This one hasn't been that bad, though. This is also my first time airbrushing and using BMF....Please be gentle. lol. Anyway, here is the progress that I've made so far. Please excuse the photography.
  6. Revell '55 Ford panel van painted with Model Masters black lacquer & clear. Homemade decals, scratch built shifter with "8 ball" knob, wired engine. Also added a stained, decaled, & clearcoated wooden barrel. I made this one to sit on my basement bar.
  7. Coca-Cola Johnny Lightning 1955 Chevy Sedan Delivery in 1/18 scale. The hood has a cutout option like Ertl had plans for some Hot Rod versions.
  8. I have been packing for a few months now, hoping to move in November. The good part is my new model shop will be in full time air conditioned space. So .. I'm going to post a model from the past. This is a 1/18 Johnny Lightning diecast done by Ertl several years ago. It has opening hood and rear gate but not the doors. Door handles are molded on but does have some nice detail over-all. If you're going to get serious about cutting up diecast, you need this RotoZip. Stay tuned! AzTom
  9. Hello, I'm sorta new around here so its nice to meet all of you. Although I don't post very often I enjoy looking around on MCM for ideas and love some of the creations I see. There is a lot of talent on here. This is my current project that I'm taking a swing at. It's the original 55 Jukebox Ford kit. On this one i'm trying to do a little more than just put it together. I plan on some wiring, seat belts, delay box, and all that good stuff. I've never got super detailed on any of my builds but I've always wanted to try. At this point there isn't much to report. I put together the Protech distributor and it is ready to put on the engine. Also glued in a few loops to the firewall to run wires. I have everything stripped and primed except for the body. Just waiting on a nice day to shoot some paint. Thanks for looking! Comments are always welcome good or bad.
