Fat Brian Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) This truck has been sitting for sale for a couple years now. It's not a tractor but it has a large flatbed and a crane. The engine is painted red but looks to be an older Cummins engine, maybe one of our diesel guru's can tell us what it is. Edited April 15, 2016 by Fat Brian
SpreadAxle Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 It is a Cummins engine, just not sure which one.
olsbooks Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Yup. Cummins. Hard to tell HP but likely between 290 and 400 given age. You may notice the "Formula" decal. That is an "authentic" Cummins sticker. I can only guess it was applied at overhaul/repair a bit sloppy.NTC series (which most opted for) engines were governed to 2100 RPM. Formula series engines (which externally are basically identical) run up to only 1900. Fuel savings in the day was the idea. Ahhhhhh.....amnesia alley. Peace
lapazleo Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Formula 350 or 400 the 290 wouldn't have an after cooler. IH painted all engines red except the v800 Ih and the 903 Cummins. Many had Cummins tan parts added over the years during rebuilds. Formula engines were also cammed and timed different as well as lower rpm with different torque curves.
