kpnuts Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Hi all next victim is the italari 1/16 Mercedes 300 SL, first thing I don't like is the distributor and plug leads are molded as part of the rocker cover (I don't even know why they would do that at this scale)
steveracer Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 That’s an interesting kit to build. Never saw this one. I will be watching!
sjordan2 Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 I have tons of 1:1 reference. Let me know if you have questions.
kpnuts Posted March 3, 2021 Author Posted March 3, 2021 Hi all well for a kit of this age I can't believe how well the body goes together (considering all the complex curves) look how little filler ive used. https://i.ibb.co/XJJqthF/IMG-6080.jpg[/img Hi skip have you got any engine detail pics (I may be asking for loads more if that ok)
kpnuts Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 I was going to do this deep impact blue (I had a can of it and thought I would use it on this) not quite enough, but it worked as a good primer for this colour. Added some ht leads.
kpnuts Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Hi all here is the next update just put together what I have so far
kpnuts Posted March 7, 2021 Author Posted March 7, 2021 No matter what angle you look at the front of the SL 300 she is sexy and beautiful. As a classic its got to be up there with the EType
kpnuts Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 So I ran into a small problem with the 300SL the track rod end and the top of the king pin were broken off I tried gluing them back on but they just kept braking off so I drilled out where they should have been and added some bent rod to fix it. It doesn't look very pretty but is not really visible on the model so I'm not too worried about it.
Dann Tier Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I never even knew about this kit.....can wait to see more!!!
kpnuts Posted March 14, 2021 Author Posted March 14, 2021 The 300 SL nears completion. Just the exhaust and the fuel tank to add to the underneath then time to add body doors and details.
