Is this engine from a car

I picked up this engine up the other day with a group of old built model cars. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what the heck it is. To me it looks like some type of turbine. It appears to be about 1/25 scale and because it is chromed I thought it was probably not from a plane. I have no idea if it is anywhere near complete but because of the size I think it might make a good custom car power source.

It's the old Revell parts-pack turbine.

This is exactly what I was looking for as an answer. I couldn't of asked for more, photos of the unbuilt engine, instructions, built engines in vehicles and a lot of history on this and of turbines!

Use it as an engine for a 60s Batmobile, it's a perfect compliment to that car.

It would also match the engine sound effect in the TV show.
