Deckerz Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 I had to strip the paint because i noticed abit of flash on each side of the front bumper but its fine. I got the strut brace from revell of america today, the chrome will be striped and painted titanium silver. I should recieve the gt500 hood and decals from revell of germany soon, then i can focus more on the interior. Here are some pics i got as the sun was setting. I finaly got the rear emblem holes filled properly, there was a tiny gap before but now its all filled. All for now....
Romell R Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I thought i was gonna be able to send you the hood youre looking for so I ran out to my storage unit and looked for my mustang kit and was unable to find it. then my wife reminded me that i had already built the car. im sorry i really wanted to help you out. but i may be able to give you the motor from the kit as i have not used it. I did build it tho. I'll take a pic of it and post it here if you want it its' yours. heres a link to the mustang i built from the GT500 kit http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w294/aftashox/?action=view¤t=PICT0001.jpg

Im taking it to the post office first thing in the morning. p.s. sorry i couldnt find the other header if i do i'll send it to you. Edited May 19, 2010 by Aftashox
Deckerz Posted May 19, 2010 Author Posted May 19, 2010 Wow thanks man, no worries about the other header, i think i could probaly make another one. Thanks again.
Deckerz Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 OK some pics, only paint i had left was gloss black so i just painted it and slapped a few decals on it, not totally happy with results because the 3 gtx decals had yellowed because they were old so they have a bit of yellow on them that i couldn't remove , also the paint turned out OK, i still need to clear coat it, should look better then. I am still waiting for the new hood and gt500 decals, there has been no postman down the street since saturday and the only parcel i got was by courier :/ and it wasn't the one i wanted haha. anyway here ya go.......
Deckerz Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 you wouldent happen to have any more mustang parts Yep, the spares i have from this are the 1/4 windows, the stock grill with emblem and fog lights, the interior center console and rear seats and maybe a few other parts, il have to have a look. What are you looking for?
whale392 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Call me crazy, but after all the cutting and fitting, waiting for the grill from Revell, and other custom touches.............why just settle on the paint? Seems a little silly to me to do all that work and still compromise on something as simple as paint. (No disrespect meant by asking that)
geckoman1220 Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 im liking the stang, can't wait to see what it looks like with clear. if you dont want the stock front grille w/ emblem & lights. i could find a use for it. P.S. this is me from youtube.
jedimastergary Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Looking good nice work might have to find my stang model and build it custom street Race style
Deckerz Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) Nice to see you here Gecko. Heres an update, after i got the parts from Aftashox i couldn't help but use some of them straight away. Goodbye streetrace mustang, hello drag race mustang, don't worry guys i will build another street racer at some point. Thats right its back on the "stands" because the stock chassis would require so much work to get it right for the wheels, engine ect so next time iv got abit of money it down to the lhs to buy a load of styrene rods to build a new chassis. Oh yeah remember the amt fast and furious charger? i knew id find a use for part of it The hole in the engine lines up perfect with the little stub on the bottom of the intake, the chrome will be stripped and tidied up then painted titanium silver, im not going to use a hood now, i want the beastly engine to be on show. EDIT: Few more pics, mock ups of engine in car. Edited May 30, 2010 by Deckerz
Deckerz Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 OK as far as i can tell tamiya paint is ###### to be frank. I dont know how all of you guys get flawless paint jobs, i tried my own way....texture, iv tried 3 tutiorials.....texture, its either the paint or me. I spray how instructed with my airbrushes, one cost £30, the other cost £4 and they give me the exact same rubbish results, this pic is after its been clearcoated, waxed and polished. Iv given up....project over!
Van Halen Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 dont give up on it mate those drag wheels look amazing, just strip the paint, try again but warm your paint !! and keep the car in a warm place to dry, i made an amazing paint job just from some Halfords spray paint solely due to the right heat conditions it set perfect.

I did warm the paint, iv stripped it about 3 time before so now im out of airbrush paint Iv had good paint jobs with rattle cans from hycote before when i painted xmods, i got airbrushs because they give better quality paint jobs but in this case not.
Deckerz Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) Heres a pic of my rattle can results, this is before wax and polish but i can see my face in it clearly. I work part time for VW painting for if people scratch their rides, we use cellulose paint there through paint guns but we arn't allowed to make it mirror shine because thats not how it was painted in the factory, in the factory its painted by machines but people don't wet sand the paint or anything thats why they have slight texture but there are people who have a custom colour that they want painting on, then we can give them mirror shine. i will get a better pic when its sunny. geckoman1220 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 i like the drag look on it, dont give up on it because of the paint. i think paint is one of the hardest part of a model to master. p.s. havnt seen an update video lately

Added a heavy coat of clear from a can and its still got texture from the black but the clear acctually reflects now, i had no wax so i had to improvise, 3 in 1 oild on a microfibre cloth.
geckoman1220 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 the gold stripes look great on it, has a gt-h look to it.
