krishna.iskandana Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Hi again, Here's another Roadrunner that I have, this time is a 69 convertible from amt. I built this model to resemble the actual car which was designed by Chip Foose in a tv show called "overhaulin' ". The color is tamiya metallic blue and mica silver for the rally stripes. I also added engine wires, changed the rims and lowered the ride heights. Let me know what you think and thanks for looking. Regards Krishna Iskandana Bandung, Indonesia
Jantrix Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 On the construction, paint and detailing this RR is aces. Top notch. The wheels? Not so much. I think if you do some measuring, the rims are over-large even compared to the 19" front & 20" rear combo Chip likes to use. Remember 1 millimeter is nearly 1 scale inch. The over-large wheels make your awesome replica look like a toy. The wheels look like they would be incapable of turning in the front. Just my $.02

DRG Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 never have been a fan of those big wheels, and they look real big, but the body, paint and detailing is great.
RodneyBad Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Great looking Convertible. Paint looks Super, I like the colors too. WHeels look great on it, I like more Rubber but what the heck, I don't have to drive it. It is a Model, it is Looks over function Besides, rolling models Hazardous. Nice work..
Jantrix Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Besides, rolling models Hazardous. When I say the wheels would not turn in the front, I'm refering to the ability to steer the front wheels, to turn them. I should have made that more clear.
impcon Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Nice build for sure!!!!!!!!! But I have to agree with the majority here about the wheels. They may look OK on an exotic newer car but IMHO, they are out of place on a car like the Plymouth. I amnot knocking your choice of wheels.. you did a bangt up job on the build and I do not mean to criticize - I appologize if my post came across as being critical. Just an observation and personal opinion. But build on McDuff! You are doing a fine job!
Terry Sumner Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I'll chime in with my agreement with the other guys in the majority on those overly large wheels and rubber band tires...they look out of place on a classic musclecar. Your paint and construction looks good though! One criticism I have is of the model's front swaybar...it's literally on the ground or maybe an inch above. Wouldn't be able to drive that car like that.
krishna.iskandana Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 Not only incapable of turning, but they look like they're scraping the inner side of the body. BTW... why does your location say Perth and Indonesia? Hi Harry, thanks for your comment, actually I just returned to Indonesia because I have completed my study in Australia. Thanks
davyou5 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Well wheels larger than they should be or no, I think he did an excellent job!
camaroman Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) I really like the overall scheme of the build ....the paint is awesome!!! BTW... Where did you source those wheels from??? A diecast, I am guessing! They tend to have over-sized 1/24 proportioned wheels Edited October 12, 2010 by camaroman
krishna.iskandana Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Hi again, I changed the wheels because I have to agree with everyone else that the previous set of wheels are too big and unrealistic. Regards Krishna
diymirage Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 great job on building this one, thats for sure as always i dont agree with chips (and your) choice of rims but thats the beauty of building models, you build yours to your liking, i build mine to my liking but i must admit with the smaller rims it looks WAY better then the first set
stewart Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Nice build. The paint looks great and the wheels are perfect. STewart
martinfan5 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I love the paint job you did, and the enginge detail is great too, and it looks alot better with the smaller set of wheels/tirs, overall great job.
Patrick2005 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I like the overall build very much and like it even more after the wheel swap!
