mackinac359 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Here's my first attempt at the 2011 Peterbilt emissions box cover. This is a new design that appears on trucks equipped with the DEF tank (Cummins and P'car MX engines for 2011). The box is made from Evergreen sheet plastic, hexagon rod and Plastruct HO scale diamond tread. Here's the real box on a '11 389. Here is what my box will go on Update 2/1/11 I painted the box with Duplicolor Bumper Chrome Thanks for looking! Attached are several pics I used for inspiration courtesy of Wes Bergman. Additional pics are on this page. Tim
Jim B Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Looks pretty convincing to me! So, will that have a Detrotpiller in it?
rodfather Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 man that looks as close as you can get great job,Im new to this forum just wanted to say hello Tim,I really admire your work,Doug Nicholas.
Kostas Parchas Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Tim hi, When I saw your last pictures from Denton and reallized the new DPF box, I though that it is very ugly. I don't like it at all. Your attempt to scale it down is very - very good. Do what you have to do in order to be casted in resin!!! The 389 is awsome! PS: What exactly is the order code of the plastruct diamond tread plastic sheet you are using? Can the same be used for the traditional battery/tool boxes? Kostas.
mackinac359 Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Answering two here: Kostas, I'm not a big fan of the new box, but hopefully it will grow on me. The Plastruct part number is #91687 Catalog number PS-155. The tread pattern doesn't match Peterbilt's pattern. The PB pattern has more hash marks than the diamond. Charles, Why the dump box? Here's the inspiration Mine will be slightly different and fancier. Tim
