1972 Satellite Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I have a question about the Chevy motor and induction on WWB's funny car. Where might I find these items. I own plenty of funny car models and none of them appear to have anything but a hemi. Thinking I might take the intake from the Stone Woods Cook gasser, but still need the chevy mill. I love this car cause it's powered by Chevy, Dodge bodied with a Ford color (Grabber Orange looks to me). Hope to have it done for the Mopar Nats model contest.
Funkster Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 The car did have a chevy engine til 1973(uncompetative), and then switched to a Donovan Hemi so he could run with the other (HEMI's)cars in the his field. That is why the models you find have Hemi's in them.
funhouse1 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 The Revell Yenko Camaro has a pretty nice BBC as a starting point, I'm sure there are others. There has to be a kit with a decent blown BBC but I can't think of one at the moment. You might be able to modify the manifold and cam cover from the old tool SWC's Olds or maybe the Tony Nancy silver car's Plymouth wedge... You know you're gonna' get some dirty looks bringing a Mopar -bodied car with Rat power to a Mopar Nats contest don'tcha', lol?...
Dragracer Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 What I've never understood about this car is the color, the instructions & the color code on the Slixx decals says Dark Yellow, doesn't look any shade of yellow to me tho.
bobcrozier Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Revell's Tony Foti's Police Camaro has a nice blown BBC in it: Its got the Milodon rocker covers however, dont know if thats a problem Bob
1972 Satellite Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Thanks for the help gentlemen. I am realizing that for my first funny car, I should tackle something a little less complicated. Could build it with the hemi, but that rat branding elephants decal is priceless. Until then, maybe that new Hawaiian.
biscayne63 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 The paint is a "Butterscotch" pearl and the injector is an odd 3 hole upright hilborn.
High octane Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Michael, I painted mine Testors dark yellow, with a couple of drops of Guards red in it. Don't forget to put the arm out the window. Steve Prideaux You did a really nice job on that build Steve and I'm glad I have one of those kits in my stash.

I've heard the new Chi-Town Hustler is excellent as well and the Jo-Han funny cars were really nice and still can be found at reasonable prices.
Hondo Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 (edited) The color was "Butterscotch pearl" as mentioned. I used Model Master Grabber Orange on mine. Here's my version of it: (with Chevy engine, 3 hole injector & arm out the window) Edited July 12, 2011 by Hondo
