Calling all General Lee Fans - revised

Recommended Posts

Red X on the second pic

I'm sure a few very wrong ideas are now floating around.....

I still see it...a box of cigars. I enjoy a cigar once in a while w/ a single malt scotch or dirty vodka martini...probably going to partake in one next weekend at my company holiday party, since there is a cigar bar at the resort the party is at...

LEE 3 was the original hero car when filming first began. It was a 1969 R/T SE Charger with a factory Tan interior, black carpet and headrests. It had a 440 Magnum with 727 auto tranny. It was also an A/C car with power windows. The Generals were first painted Hemi Orange. It had a dummy rollbar with padding painted to match the interior. The engine bay was painted black. Building any faithful representation of the General from the 1/16 Kit will involve A LOT of scatchbuilding along with swapping out the Hemi for a 440. Don't forget the crossed flags (confederate and checkered) on the Dutchman panel behind the rear window as this was on the original Georgia-Era cars.

The later hero cars had a sheet metal firewall cover and a lot of chrome.

If you want more info, I'm a huge Dukes/General fan, so shoot me a PM.

Chris

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm not sore who is worst, the other member trying so hard to brake the habit or Harry braking his own boss's rule with just posting a smiley icon himself. (LOL)

I'm doing my dang-est also to not post a smiley myself in my reply's.

I don't remember seeing any rule about posting emoticons.

How about a prize to any moderator savvy enough to realize that the username associated with the illegible babble is totally inappropriate for this forum?

Sorry... I must have missed your appointment as the guy in charge of deciding what user names other members can use.

No hard and fast rule Harry, but we did discuss it a few months back. Gregg informed us it does waste more bandwidth than you would think and he would rather we not post if all we have is a smiley. :D

This is the first I've heard of it.

Suddenly Danno's "insert emoticon here" schtick makes sense!

. The Generals were first painted Hemi Orange.

That's a common misconception. The early Lees were painted 1975 Chevrolet Corvette Flame Red, usually right over whatever color the car was originally. Later cars got a primer and basecoat for more consistancy in the color.
