Brizio
Testors, Tamiya or Duplicolor make a color (better if spraycan) that can use for replicate the Viking blue? Thanks!
bigphoto
You might try your local auto body paint supply place and have them make you a can it is 1963 code E it is a little pricey but it is right. It is also known as Acapulco blue.
Brizio
Thank you for the suggestion. But there is nothing else ready in spray can, also a similar color would work.
Brizio
I think this Duplicolor light blue is a good match, what do you think?
TooOld
I was going to suggest Model Master Nassau Blue , but that Duplicolor Light Blue might be closer .
MonoPed
Here's two builds to compare. The Cobra is PPG Viking Blue: And the Malibu SS is Duplicolor GM Light Blue Metallic:
TooOld
Yeah , the Duplicolor is too light . This Metro is painted with the Nassau Blue . It's not really bright enough . . . have to keep looking . I also found this in my samples . It is Tamiya Clear Blue over silver ( top ) and over white . Brizio
Thank you guys, I think I will test shot the duplicolor on different primer, maybe it became darker. I understand that it is difficult have the perfect match, but I'm getting kind of confused, some pictures of real Cobra in Viking Blue, are very light like more on the silverish, other are more darker... Look a this one. Here looks like the duplicolor... This one looks darker, almost a Nassau blue...
TooOld
The light plays tricks with photographs . I've seen a few originals in Viking Blue and you definetly want the lighter color .
Brizio
Agree with you, plus seen the on picture it can compromise all. Your Tamiya Clear blue over silver looks also a close match. later if I can I will test the Duplicolor, and post pics. Thanks again!
Brizio
I shoot the Duplicolor on a black primer and the result is little darker than the cap. What do you think, should it work for a '64 Cobra?
