crazyjim
I'm confused and need some help with AN fittings. Looking through several speed equipment catalogs hasn't helped me. There's red and blue fittings. Are the colors supposed to used at specific times? Like red on a carb or blue on a radiator hose?
gluebomb
Question 1: No Question 2: No The red fittings usually go into the object you are plumbing then the blue is on the hose end. Example: Plumbing a carb: The red fitting goes into the carb and the blue fitting is on the hose. I hope this helps.
crazyjim
Thanks, Gary. Is it always red followed by blue?
JunkPile
The red fittings are the ones that are not to be removed or disturbed (unless absolutely necessary) while doing repairs. The blue fittings are the ones to be removed during service.
crazyjim
Thanks, Chuck. I think I'm starting to get it. The reason I ask is because I bought several sizes of Japanese seed beads in hex shape. Much, much less expensive than buying machined aluminum fittings even though the beads don't have a tapered end.
heroncustom
I just learned this a few days ago and junk nailed it for ya. Red are "do not touch" nd Blue are " removable/ servicable".
