jsc Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 While frustrated with some other builds, I changed gears and started work on the AMT '70 Galaxie police car. But I wanted to make it more like one we had back in the day. So, I found a green close to my memory of the Ford, made a vinyl top out of tape, and found some stock looking hubcaps from the parts box. BMF ended up a bit thick and too shiny, but you get the idea. I kept the interceptor engine, though, just for kicks. Enjoy!
David G. Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Looks pretty good. What brand of foil are you using for the trim? David G.
Harry P. Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 You need to use a sharp, new blade when you trim the foil. Looks like you're using a dull blade and tearing the foil. The weight of the knife alone (with maybe some very light pressure) should be enough to cut through the foil if the blade is sharp. If you're not getting clean, smooth cuts, that's a sure sign your blade isn't sharp enough.
LongRoofNut Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Looks like it could be a backround car in CHiPs or The Dukes Of Hazard. Nice work!
jsc Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 The foil is BMF and I really did not like the way it turned out. Too heavy and yes, torn places at times. But I keep working and practicing!
Guest Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Nice, in spite of the choppy foil. Like Harry said, a sharp blade is key.
Porscheman Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Did you use the Ultra Bright or the regular chrome BMF? I tried the ultra and found it tears easily. I always use the regular chrome and polish it out. Otherwise a great looking build. Edited April 30, 2013 by Porscheman
Lovefordgalaxie Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I like it!! Even the color looks crazy enough to scream 1970s!!!
jsc Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 Thanks, guys. The BMF was Chrome, but it was some I've had for a long time. It tore easily, even with a sharp blade
