FASTBACK340 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Here's a trick I use for making PE speaker grills look realistic. I use black masking tape, photo-etched wiper arms bits, O rings, and the grills. I mount the tape sticky side up. Not only does this hold the photo-etch, it's the same color as the paper in a speaker cone. I mount the photo-etched dots with the O rings around them. Then I apply the grill over the replicated voice coils in the speakers Then cut the speaker grill away from the tape. Everything comes off ready for a dab of adhesive and mounting.....
Scale-Master Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Those look nice. I have found old calculators sometimes have rubber contacts under the buttons that work well as speakers under grilles like those.
martinfan5 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I like those speakers , very nicely done, going to have to have to keep that in mind. On a side note, you might want to have this thread moved to the tips section, it might get more views as well.
FASTBACK340 Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Thanks on the proper thread suggestion.... I never thought of it. I'll have a Mod take care of it.
martinfan5 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 No worries , you have a really good tip on building nice looking speakers, and if stays in this section, it will most likely get burried
rel14 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Find a set off those small head phones,,take the speakers out, find the right ones,,and you can mount them under the rear dash and have really speakers that really work,, have to run small wire to a outside hand radio,,
Dr. Cranky Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Beautiful, wonderful idea. Thank you for sharing.
