W-409 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I started this about five months ago. My First idea was that i build a tubeframe to '56 Chevy. But then i got better idea. I had AMT's '63 Impala. The plan was to make a gasser from it, but chassis and interior were so bad that i started to think about building tubeframe to Impala. First i made a drawing and then i started building. The frame is made from brasstube. I welded them together. My dad helped me fitting tubes before welds and measure them. I did everything else myself. Engine will be Lamar Walden's and World Products new 609''. I must do the firewall because AMT kit doesn't include it. Tires will be Mickey Thompson Sportmans. They are street legal ones. This gonna be Pro Street. It fits nicely! Then i continued... I made front frame tubes from the same brasstube as the frame. I made engine front mounting plate from aluminium. Thanks for lookin'
jedimastergary Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Looks cool and it is a Ipmpala not done as a lowrider that is cool and it looks grerat so far will watch this build to see how it turns out
modelhut Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 W-409, this is going to be a great model! Please continue to post pictures, as I will be following this one
Smart-Resins Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Great job so far. I like the brass frame. almost wants me to get back onto my 53 belair brass frame! Jody
Wagoneer81 Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Very nice! Wonderful work on the frame, I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Guest old man Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 NICE BUILDING ON THE FRAME WHERE DID YOU GET THE REAR TIRES ?
AMT Pacemakers Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 What equipment do you use for your solder work? CCSS
W-409 Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 Rear tires are aftermarket stuff, made of resin. For soldering i use liquid gas to heat up the soldering paste (?).
W-409 Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 I continued working with this. I made a tunnelram manifold from 100% scratch. First I made that plate on the top of the crankcase chamber. I flamed it, because after that it was more flexible. Then I made those intake pipes from the same brasstube as the frame. I rolled it because then it's bit more square. I soldered them to the place. For last, I made a plate on the top of the intake tubes. I test fitted everything to the place and it looked like this. Not so happy it's not so good but i have to fix the worst problems and then it's ok. I resized the pics, any better...?
Terror Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Looks like she'll heat up some tar.Nice work so far, please, carry on.
W-409 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Thanks Terror! I'm trying to keep this going but now I need parts for front suspension, one tie rod is coming, but more parts needing... Have to look what parts I'll really need and have to try swap them... Or then I make them from 100% scrathc as I will do with the rear suspension's four links. Next have to build all the brackets and then paint the frame and after that I'll make the floor...
speedy5963 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 great start here, really looking forward to seeing how this comes along
