RodneyBad Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 (edited) I've been lurking around here and decided this is the Place to be. (don't ask) I haven't built in while but never missed an issue. Finally figured out there IS a Forum.(duh!, on my part) Here's a project I've Finished awhile ago. Built from the AMT ford F-150 with the MonoGram F-350 emblems Scratched built everything behind the cab. Once I get moved, I'll have many to get back to work on. RodneyBad Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Thanks all, It seemed easy since I drove the real thing. Flat stock and evergreen. No bondo (unlike the 1:1) I built it on a mission to impress a friend that can build anything from anything. And just to see if I could do it. I have many pages of notes and pics of everything on it. I can replicate things easier than building off the top of my head. Go figure. Flat and square, I can do it. Compound curves and imagination. Not so easy but plausible
RodneyBad Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 A few Extra pics for a bump Electric over Hydraulics system Model Real (this pic was taken b-4 I got the newer one but same Bed) Thanks
Buildsince93 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 awesome build! how did you do the rear tires? are they just dually wheels with out the outter wheel or are they from a kit?
RodneyBad Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 Thanks Guys The rear wheels are many pieces. The Main wheel ring is from the MPC Dodge 4x4 kits of Yesteryear The wheels are from the Revell T-Bolt kit and I converted it to a full floater 8 lug one ton with 8 Lil pins for lugs and a scratch built Hubs. I'm sure there is a better way to do it these days. it was a fun and challenging build. I also hand painted the strips and lettering. Lil bit off but close enough. With out taking it apart, the interior is really good. I scratch built a Motorola Radio, Power panal w/4-switches and inside wheellift controls.
Custom Hearse Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Show off! That is cool! Now if I could get mine to look that good....
CB Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 You have some scratchbuilding skills my friend! Looks great. I agree with Ken! Do some more scratchin'! Nice job on replicating the 1:1
Buildsince93 Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 Very cool I love all the little details once I find my dodge dually model I think I'm gonna make a tow truck out of it
RodneyBad Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 Thanks again guys, I'm really trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm not creative like most of ya guys But with a 1:1 in hand, I can copy. Some of the plans I drew as I went along Can't believe I still had them.
voljeepx Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Those are some pretty detailed notes there! The tow truck turned out great, so it was worth it! Nice work!
RodneyBad Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 Those are some pretty detailed notes there! The tow truck turned out great, so it was worth it! Nice work! Thanks, it was worth the extra effort and something that was never done B-4. It's hard to build a subject that somebody hasn't done. I was trying to show my boss how good my truck would look with a newer style cab After some one ran a red light and re arrange my front end, just 3 blocks from the shop, I got a newer cab and the same bed. Funny thing is all the trucks were named alpha style. A Able, B Baker, C Charlie etc... Mine was Q for Quick It was a fun build and it seemed easy going from the plans.
