  1. Ah, ok thanks for the info! maybe I could mock something up based off an older s10 grill.
  2. While I'm thinking about it, is there a resin of the Cheyenne front end that would work with the older silverado kits? this front:
  3. From what I remember the HD models have the black plastic fender flares on the front and their hood is slightly different, it bulges up higher than a 1500, of course the wheels and suspension and bed, I'm actually going to make a work truck of some kind so I may use the modelhaus utility bed or I'm seriously thinking about waiting until the wrecker that revell is releasing comes out and mixing the 2 kits and making a 99 3500 wrecker out of it. I also want to mix the wrecker kit or utility bed with the AMT 93 F-150 to make an F-350 too.
  4. Ok thanks everyone! I had forgotten about the wave rider truck and that makes sense that it's just a reissue of that, I'll probably snag one of the older ones off ebay then!
  5. Ok thanks, is the suspension to make it the stock ride height included? or only the lowered suspension? That looks sweet! are those the 20's chevy was offering through dealers? heres a few places for it 99 Silverado
  6. Just a quick question, I'm getting back into building and have decided I want to make a dually version of the revell silverado I built this version back when it came out and I've been looking at revells website and I see this version My question is are they the same kit? Are there parts in this new version to build a stock truck? or is this a different kit altogether? any info would be great thanks! -Dante
  7. Niiice came out looking good!
  8. Looks awesome I may have to pick one of these kits up I like the roof rack too!
  9. ok so which is it? Either trucks are popular or they aren't? I'm not trying to start a fight and this is said with no attitude toward you, but seriously anybody could clearly see that since 99 when they last made a new truck kit trucks have become far more popular with the general public than they were from 99 back, from my vantage point (working in the auto industry) it's plain to see that there are way more trucks suv's and these crossover things than there ever was on the road pre 99. I just think it's a waste to not even explore this territory considering there's more truck options now than ever. The kits I listed would not even be a "new tooling" it would simply be a refresh of tooling they already own if they can have 80 different mustang kits why can't they do even one truck? Again this is said with no attitude toward you or anyone else just my observation whether revell or anybody else does a truck kit is whatever it won't stop me from building and simply put there's way more important things to worry about than arguing with someone I don't know over this Dante
  10. ok I agree with you to a point, but that was 12 years ago trucks were not the popular vehicles that they've become in the last few years if the fact that they can make 3 cars out of an olds a chevy and Pontiac whatever without any big money spent holds true than why wouldn't it for the trucks that they HAVE the tooling for?
  11. heres a few they could do Out of the 99 silverado and the Escalade tooling they could make any of the following: 06 silverado Tahoe/Suburban Yukon/XL/Denali Sierra Ford F-150 Tooling: F-250/350 Expedition The ram Vts could be reworked into A 2500/3500 These could all be done.
  12. I may be wrong but if nothing else couldn't they at least update a few trucks with the tooling they have? For example on the 99 silverado, they could update it to the 03-06 front end/taillights, the body is the same and the work done to change it would be minimal doing this would also open up to the addition of the SS and also a 3500 HD version, again adding flares to the bed and a dually aaxle would not break them and could be done. Another one would be at least the 99 body style F-250/350 the bed is the same thing as the F-150 that they have tooling for, they could update the cab iirc the 5.4 is the same as the F-150 and they could also make a dually version heck they could even just update the F-150 kit to the later years I don't remember the model but theres a regular bed version with the flaresides taillights I would love to see Dodge trucks because they've been my favorite since I was a kid they've changed enough that new tooling would be needed for a current version but i'd be more than happy with them modding the vts pickup into a 2500 or 3500 I think they could definitely do something with the Chevys and fords and that could be their testing ground if it works move onto other truck subjects
  13. My comment was based off the the prospective of a casual builder and being someone that's been into the hobby for 20 years when I started out it was the snap kits of the regular cars that got me into it not 5 versions of chevelles or mustangs. I understand that things arent as they were back then tooling costs have gone up sales have gone down etc but as was mentioned I'd even be happy with some snap kits of trucks or "regular" cars but again I fully understand why things are the way they are. To touch on the mustangs yes I have in fact built them, what I said was just a hyperbole, you understand and I and I'm sure everyother person that's serious about this hobby knows there's more than 5 parts I was merely refering to the way the casual buyer would look at things, to someone who is just getting into this it seems like having 8 variations ofthe samething either wouldn't matter or would jus confuse them to the point that they buy nothing at all (I've personally seen this happen) as you said the casual buyer makes up more of the market but let's face it the only people that are gonna buy every version of a kit are the hardcore builder. Again Im indifferent in the sense that I'll just buy old models to get what I want to build and whatever they bring out I'll likely buy something from the current selection.
  14. but in a buisness like they happen to be In isn't what the customer wants to a degree important? I mean let's face it this is a hobby, they live off us spending our money on their product so couldn't they take our wants into consideration to a degree? Yes bending to the every whim of every builder is never gonna happen but seriously come on you mentioned like 10 different variations of the mustang alone why do we need that? They could easily box the 5 parts that differ and sell it as a 3 in 1 I understand all the buisness politics that go into what gets built but that doesn't make it any better bottom line I'm gonna keep building and there's a huge back catalog for me to dive into because from the current look it seems like ignoring a new generation of vehicles and builders is the industry standard
  15. +1 I agree it would be nice to see modern cars, also I would at least like some reissues of some everyday cars from when I grew up I'm 24 and have been into building and had an interest in modeling ever since I was 3 and I saw the 80's tamiya nissans and hondas my uncle built, I'd just like to see the stealths and probes and gran prix's heck even the chevy citation kits again as well as the truck kits, cars that I saw driving around growing up and that mean something to me. Sure I've built my fair share of 60's and 70's muscle cars and I have nothing against the 32 ford guys because they're building the cars that they got to see and that mean something to them, the problem is that nothing from the 20's-50's really means anything to me or captures my attention. To me cars from the 50's all look the same just like cars today look the same to some older folks, bottom line if they would just release something like a pontiac G8 or a nissan altima or a late model truck anything thats current I think they'd have less of these threads the problem I see is that they cater to a certain crowd and leave others hanging which IMO is why this hobby is slowing down I see the logic on both sides but alienating part of your consumer base just doesn't really seem like a sound business decision to me but thats just my opinion
  16. I'm lovin these truck builds you got! i really want to start building older 70-90s trucks I like the lift on this one!
  17. I got mine a few weeks ago i agree it is a pretty useless scale but it was free so i cant complain maybe i'll just ad some detail to it
  18. cool cool i hear ya on your paint stand lol mine is an empty bottle of carb cleaner lol what ever works tho
