JamesW Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Here's the start of my garage. I'm going to enlarge it a little. And I'm saving some $ to make it worth the trip to Ann Arbor (Riders Hobby) for the sheeting for the walls.
disabled modeler Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Looks good to me so far...keep at it-cant wait to see where it goes.
JamesW Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Finished up the interior, with outlets and a breaker box.
GTMust Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Great start.... Looking forward to seeing the progress.
JamesW Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Made some more progress on my garage. Got the siding done, now to get the trim around the doors and the "concrete" outside.
Eshaver Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 James, is that Evergreen Clap board sheet ? Ed Shaver
JamesW Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Close, it's plastruct. 6 sheets of 3/16 clapboard for outside, 6 sheets of plain inside and 3/16 angle for the corners and door trim.
GTMust Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 You're definitely heading in the right direction with your construction methods. Keep up the good stuff! Tony
Eshaver Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Nice job of the clap boards sir .............. Ed Shaver
GTMust Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Do you plan to include a man door and/or windows somewhere? Tony
Eshaver Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Tony, you're right . Every garage this size needs at least one 36 inch entry door - way ............. Ed Shaver
JamesW Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Do you plan to include a man door and/or windows somewhere? Tony Eventually there will be a door. plan on ordering one from the g scale train section on Ebay.
JamesW Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Got the "asphalt" and door trim done. Start workin on equipment soon.
GTMust Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 (edited) What did you use for the asphalt? Waterproof sandpaper? You might consider giving it a very watery light gray acrylic craft paint wash, using a wide brush and allowing the paint strokes to show a line of travel for the vehicles. If you do, experiment first on some spare sandpaper to get the feel of what I mean. It's difficult to describe in words so you really need to experiment first. You're doing a great job so far....... this is just a suggestion. Tony Edited December 12, 2011 by GTMust
JamesW Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 It's just black posterboard I found at Walgreens. With the cleanliness of the whole building it looks like a newly built shop with fresh asphalt.
JamesW Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 (edited) Got the lift finished. Edited December 13, 2011 by grimreaper
Eshaver Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 James, in all seriousness, you need to beat the floor up some . Even a shall we say sanitary shop with that type of tile has some wear on it .......... Ed Shaver
JamesW Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Workin on it Ed, I'm workin on it. Once I get all the equipment done and placed I can figure out where the "weathering" should be.
mikemodeler Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Looking good and that is a very sized shop- one I would love to have! The lift is a nice touch and I can't wait to see what is next!
gbdolfans Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 James, This looks GREAT!!!! You are going in the right direction with this. I have one question. How or what did you use for the black and white floor??? I have been looking for this in scale and can't find anything close. Thanks and keep at it.I will be following this one.
JamesW Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks, it has been a headache, but it's getting there slowly. The floor (as well as wall plugs and such) is self adhesive sheets I got on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350498226900
gbdolfans Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 James, Thank you very much for the info and link!!!!! This is just what I have been looking for. This is what I love about this forum!!!
