  1. I'm already past the point of no return, Lenny. I'm going to try to use the curbside-ish floor from the '63 under the Starliner body so as not to waste that nice kit. Yes I did, Bob, and I am using the '60 engine with a different intake (see my 1st post above). Yes it does, and I wish I had known this. I coulda saved 12 bucks. (See above, 1st post) I saw the car run at Charleston, RI when I was a young'un. That's all I remember though ?.
  2. The first thing I had to do was straighten the floor pan using the Starliner body as a reference. I won't bore you with the details. Then the frame. Anyway, that all worked out okay. After that I noticed the 1:1 shows the rear spring shackles are either reversed or replaced with aftermarket parts to maybe make room for the slicks so that was the first mod. Second, I fabbed up a traction bar set-up using the thunderbolt part, loosely, as a pattern. The floor pan needed to be trimmed slightly behind the rear axle and shortened a bit. The gas tank had to be moved forward and the frame was shortened near the bumper brackets. The "screw bosses" have been shortened to ultimately get the bumper brackets to work with the bumper and to get the stance established. I observed in the photos that the 1:1 rear hub aligns with the lower character line of the body, so that was my target. It seemed wheels on the 777 were mostly reddish steelies and white wall tires appear on the front. I borrowed slicks from the AMT '62 Bel Air SS 409 and married them to the '60 kit's wheels. On the front are the '63 kit tires on the '60 inner wheels with the '63 chromies on the outside, painted. The rears needed tweaking to get the tires in a bit and I buzzed the inside of the wheel openings too for a little extra clearance. Hopefully, the photos will clarify anything I have not explained well. The help I will need is about the next thing- the radiator support. I am not sure how to go about this and any help will be greatly appreciated so....feel free!
  3. I tried to get a head start on this one before posting the WIP and I did but not as much as I wanted. I'm going to need some guidance from those of you who may have experience with the 1:25 build or with knowledge of the 1:1s, rare as they are. Below is the subject matter and there are not many good photos that I could find. I have both kits needed to build a full detail model and have begun to make the mods in order to fit the Starliner frame and floor pan to the Galaxie body. I am using the intake setup from the 427 '66 Fairlane kit on the Starliner long block and transmission. ( I unwittingly bought a 2000 Starliner kit with the black one on the box; no dual quad intake ?.)
  4. That a tad over my head, Len. I would not want to put that stuff in my $180 airbrush. Catalyzed paint? ?. Scarey. Am I being silly? Don't answer that ?.
  5. Oh yeah! Get some foil on it! Very, very nice, Jim. Awesome color and we gotta see it in the sun when you're finished ?. (I live for the "polish-out", it's the best part ?.)
  6. She looks terrific, Greg. Tell me you're not glad it's over. ?
  7. What type of paint are they selling ? I'm considering getting some MCW enamels in basic colors like flat black and gloss red and white, etc., you know for detail brush work. I'm just an old Testors enamel guy and can't think outside that box ?. I bought a rattle can of Humbrol enamel "varnish" in clear flat. It smells kinda funny. Paint-wise, I feel a bit lost ?
  8. It sounds like more work than I want to do for a paint job, Len.... I dunno. ? Could be laziness creeping up on me. ?
  9. Hey, Len, I just read back (to see what I can't remember) and I have a question about the use of the opaque - was that used as a base because the "wicked" is translucent? Also did you use Tamiya primer as a final before color? I hope I'm not being a PITA about this ?.
  10. I hope I can remember this information when I finally get around to using the stuff. Good info, Greg. ? I may be too impatient to use it, Lenny, but this is more good info for me if I ever do. How many coats did you apply on the coupe? (I don't remember if you already said ?)
  11. Mine is probably 6 or so years old, I think...( I procrastinate a little ?).
  12. I like it, Len. Very interested in the Createx paint. I have a bunch of it that might be cured in the bottles by now ?. I need to check that ?. Anyway, the coupe looks super!
  13. I can't add anything different than what everybody else has already said so....Ditto! Great job, David, I enjoyed watching this one. ?
  14. Yeah, the fan.....what about a Flex-a-Lite? Do they go back that far?
  15. YES SIR! That looks fantastic, Greg!
  16. Sometimes hitting "the easy button" is the best choice. I have actual scar tissue on my right index finger from doing that. Plant shopping. Uhh.........nope. I'm not gonna say anything?
  17. Oh, and yeah....it does look great, Greg. The thing you did with the cowl vent is genius. Well done. The windshield rubber is a great idea too. Can't wait to see this one done. You could use MCG or Detail Master wipers if your dexterity is still up to par (mine isn't so great these days ?).
  18. Good God, man....I am so done with my '41 and I know what you are going through. I see mine sitting there every day and I just avoid thinking about it. It's just one of those things. I have moved on. Greg, I hope you can bring yours to some sort of closure. Good luck. Edit: I really like that painting fixture you made. Great idea!
  19. This is way more complicated than I expected. ?. Your workmanship is impressive, Bob. I'm following with great interest.
  20. I don't understand why the exhaust had to be routed through the cabin and not underneath like a regular car. ?. No room undeneath? Weird rules? My total ignorance? ?
  21. I guess TarheelRick said it all. I was confused by the "passenger side" text and the subsequent driver's side exhaust exit photo. You can still edit it, Bob ?
  22. That's good ol' Model Master Plum Crazy! I thought it fitting for this old Mo-pup. I have it polished out and foiled and in the process of final assembly.
  23. My "Gray Ghost" is a combination of the Moebius '56 Chrysler 300C and a promo I paid $70 for just to create a tribute to my favorite ride back in the '70s. Unfortunately, some stoner rear-ended me at a red light and that was the end of that one.
  24. I have attempted what you did with your interior without anywhere near the success you were able to achieve. Nice work, Jim.
  25. Let's not forget that '56 Desoto that belonged to some friend of the Pharohs that whats-his-name "scratched" while leaning on it..... Well, actually, this one was mine ?
