  1. While at dinner tonight I had told my wife about the forum and we had talked and she said she enjoys the model car hobby and eventually wants to begin building but she doesn't have a real idea of what she likes to build. Don't get me wrong I was in shock when she told me that and I couldn't believe them words came out of her mouth.. LOL! Although she very much enjoys her arts and crafts (ceramic dolls and ceramic paintings) She had asked me about a small garage I had started building and she seemed very interested in it.. Here we sit at dinner, on the forum around the IPad looking at members dioramas and she was in shock as much as I am at how very well you guys have put together these dioramas. After about 20 minutes of looking she says "You know what would be totally cool" "what's that I ask?" she says, you know we have the spare bedroom upstairs and I said "Yes?" Then she says, I think I'd much rather enjoy building, painting and detailing those little houses and shops. I told her based off her past paintings she has good attention to detail... So she says to me, we have 4 unused 10' tables left from the garage sale. what if we lined the 3 walls (keeping the wall with the door on the room open) with those tables and we built a town? I thought I'd never hear these words and I didn't even think about it and I said "Yes!!" What a great idea! so the whole way home (25 minute drive) We tossed around ideas of doing a road all the way around the room on the tables and putting a shop, gas station, food market and few other places around the town with everything done in 1/24 scale.... we have a pretty good idea of what were gonna do with the whole diorama... Basically our own little make believe town with different groups of vehicles hanging out and many cars and trucks just to look like there driving and in driveways of the houses around the town. I just thought I'd share this with you guys. I got a huge kick out of it. I thought this will be a good way to spend quality time and call something "ours". what are your thoughts on this? I'm gonna be headed to micheals to check out possible diorama items in the morning!!
  2. well sorry for posting this over here... I was unsure. anyways, I did very little to the truck but I decided to lower it a bit, then I added chrome escalade wheels in place of the stock Chevy wheels.. I also plan to detail the body more. the trucks purpose is its being.built for my diorama, it will be my shops part runner. I have a lot to do to it but I just wanted to show I've been doing small things to it.
  3. Thanks for the info John that was going to be my next question. I have to build a full frame, suspension arms etc for the truck. Thank you!
  4. Minor update, I haven't spent much time but I did soak the cab in purple power and stripped it. I have been doing small amount of body work in between my other projects. Here's a couple pictures. ill keep chopping away at it. Starting the frame once I get my hands on styrene.
  5. I decided I should pull 1 of the 14 99 Silverados I have out and start building it. this will be very basic, nothing Special but I am hoping for an overall clean build. Color will be orange and it'll be as detailed as I can. ill update the thread as progress is made. I do need to get a paint brush so I can do small details so that's where I'm headed now.
  6. I feel like I haven't been back in it long enough and I don't have all the supplies I could use.. I always try to jump overboard into a kit and my skills don't really allow me to keep up and I cant keep up and make progress and I put them back in the box and move on.
  7. <p>nice build!! I'd drive the heck out of that.
  8. I'm near Minneapolis.. I'd like to find model swap meets and shows as well. Thanks
  9. I don't know what was used. I just dropped the cab into the purple power to soak. we will see if something happens. if not, ill have to do aloft of sanding...
  10. well ran into my first problem with it... I need to strip the paint off the cab... what's the best way to do so?
  11. I decided to dig into the stash and pull out a pickup someone had already started. I decided to do a muscle truck but gave it a few different touches. 22" front wheels, 24x16 rear rims. The truck will have air Ride suspension but also will be sporting a full custom engine bay along with a turbo 6.0 from an escalade. I also swapped dashes, seats, door panels with a Escalade. The trucks in a very rough stage right now, this is pulling it straight out of the box as I recieved it and started to mock up a few things. Decided I'd show ya where I am starting at and hopefully tonight ill be able to do a nice update. Again I just was testing it laying frame and seeing if the rear wheels would tuck. Truck will have two tone paint of some sort... I know its not up to par with a lot of your build threads or builds in general but I feel like ill really turn this truck around.
  12. I would buy one depending what the price would be on them!
  13. Started on a couple builds recently that I am looking for air compressor, tanks, valves, I found a how to on making the air bags out of o rings so I won't need those but might buy a set if descent prices. I've looked at a few resin companys with no luck. Any one seen anything?
  14. looks great Jared. I've checked out this and some of your other projects. really enjoy checking.them out!
