  1. My buddy rusted her out, I dont know if thats cheating, but I wanted to put that out there! It was his 1st rust job and I like it! Everything else is my doing, good or bad! Added plates to the firewall to cover up the holes for the hood, which the painter misplaced. Will cover the firewall with plates when I'm done, because I kept fingering them and missing them up.
  2. Picked her up at a yard sale for a dollar. Shes going to be the tow vehicle for the Camarow Boat. (project that stalled because my skill level was not up to par with what I wanted to do)
  3. Great job on a great kit! Even better job getting the shift pattern decal on the shifter knob! Cheers!
  4. That was my 1st model making tool, I used it to pull the body apart. Found a small hacksaw blade and box cutter in the junk drawer and using a nail file for sanding. So far I bought glue, putty, 3 plastic sheets and $1 can of spray paint. Thanks, van
  5. So you don't run aground when passing an on coming boat.
  6. To cool! Got a lot done in a couple of hours. Just hope it looks something like a boat. Thanks, van 1st attempt at the floor pan, it's all one part now. no pic. Added the sides of the hull, filled in rear wheel wells and hacked the trunk lid out up to the rear contour of the spoiler for the new back seat. Missed filling in the front wheel well.
  7. Jump seats. Caution wet paint. "Smoothed" the inner door panels. More wet paint. Working on making the floor pan flat. Wanted to go with the engine in the back but the convertible top was in the way. Any suggestions, comments are welcome. Thanks in advance, van
  8. Cut the dash for right hand boat drive. The center console, a/c vent and air bags will go. No use for on a boat.
  9. I hope it looks something like a boat when I'm done! Your bug camper is super stellar! The carpet is spot on!
  10. Thanks for the heads up on the for sale signs. Can you use throw away plastic plates? I found some looking for a better cutter in the junk drawer. To thick for the hull, but I need to smooth the floor pan. I think I should start with dash, seats and door panels 1st and stick that to the body before the hull. Thanks in advance, van I cut the center section out of the back seat and stuck it to the front seats. Must get putty and plastic.
  11. Looks real to me! But the hood looks wrong, IF the fire dept put it out there may be ax holes and pry marks by the hood latch area not on the ends. They soak down the motor in case the fire restarts. Also I don't see any steel belt wire around the rims from the tires and no melted car parts on the ground around the car. I vote model. And that looks like a really hot burn job so the roof could have warped by the top of the windsheild.
  12. *Warning* I have not built a model car in over 25 years. I got this at a flea market for 20 cents. Not sure where he came up with price, but my wife was shocked I did'nt try to talk him down. This sucker was really glued together, the whole lower body was glued to the floor pan. But not one speck of glue on the body or glass. I sell every model I find, but after finding this site I was inspired to try and build something. Not much building supplies except an old steak knife to pull off the wheels and rear end. Envelopes to make a pattern and a sharpie an tape. I need some plastic sheet, glue, sandpaper and putty to make the bottom. No model shops within 45 min. of me. Micheals has no putty or plastic. Wish me luck, van
