  1. Just a curb side... or track side I guess! Started with a snap together Mustang GT. Scratch built the cowl hood, turbo inlets in the grill were built out of aluminum tube.

I also scratch built the rear wing out of sheet plastic. Wheels and tires came from the parts box.

I built a chute mount and added the various pull cables, battery shut off, etc. Decals are a mix of Slixx.

The battery push off was made out of a pin.

  2. I went crazy with a lot of subtle body mods on this one. The hood indents, door handles, side trim indents, dash top, gas cap....

    IMG_6218.jpg

tailgate edges, handle, tailights, rollpan... all got shaved. The third brake light is reflective trailer tape.

Under the hood is semi-stock. Inner fenders were shaved and painted body color. Motor was paint detailed. I used masking tape to replicate header wrap.

I used tamiya tape to mask the graphics. The grey is Duplicolor touch-up, the red is Testor's one coat Reving red I believe. I left the headlights clear to look aftermarket, and I tinted the fog light covers too. Decals came from a viper kit.

  3. Hey everbody, sorry updates have taken so long, college is keeping me busy!

I put some wheels under the camaro, 80's style centerlines (I think) with the centers painted black. I built the front grill out of sheet plastic and halfround. I was able to save the kits headlights and turn signals.

I'm still undecided on a power plant. Im thinking a LS based motor out of Revell's 99 Silverado with a different intake. Inspired by other work on this board, ( and this kits horrible inner fenders and lack of detail) I decided to create a custom underhood "plate." Here it is in the early stages of mock-up.

Any other engine sugestions? Progress will be slow but I'm determined to finish this car!

  4. Marty, that is orange peel you see, lighting makes it look really bad! but i painted this about 3 years ago and it still looks pretty good so I'm happy with it. Once I get better at polishing I might give this car a shot!

    Thanks everyone!

  5. This is a fun older build. Paint loosely based off a factory scheme.

    IMG_6272.jpg

The wheels and tires are from a 5th gen Camaro

Interior is pretty stock with the addition of a tach. Eventually I am going to build another 79 that will be silver, and it will recieve this red interior. I will then make the interior of this 79 black.

    IMG_6274.jpg

Paint is testor's burgandy, gloss black, and yellow.

  6. I'm working on an easy, fun build. It's a promo so there's no motor. I scratchbuilt the hood out of evergreen sheet plastic and half-round. You can see the "Bullhorn" exhaust that will exit the front fenders, sitting on the ground next to the paint-detailed tail lights.

    IMG_6452.jpg

The wing and chute mount were also scratch built. I need to add some sort of strut for support. The decals in the rear window are slixx left overs.

    IMG_6455.jpg

The idea is that this is a turbo car, so inside I scratch built an intercooler and related plumbing. Next, I will build a roll cage, fuel cell, and some electronics.

  7. Thanks Scott! The duct foil is a lot thicker then bare metal foil, the deeper the window trim line, the easier it is to apply. I find it does not wrinkle as bad as bmf. It also does not tear as easily. However, it is hard to foil small areas such as vent windows with the duct foil. It is not quite as bright as bmf, but I can live with it. The best feature for me, It's cheap! I have one role that will last hundreds of models!

  8. Painted Testors Champagne gold with clear. Wheels come optional with the kit, I painted the spokes flat gray.

    IMG_6467.jpg

This kit comes with the GT500 decals in three colors! I used the black stipes to contrast the gold body color. All the chrome trim is aluminum duct foil.

    IMG_6473.jpg

Interior is painted military brown with masking tape seatbelts. Dash was detail-painted.

    IMG_6478.jpg

    Engine was built box stock.

    Beauty shot.
