  1. '55 Olds Hardtop '56 Mercury Hdtp '54 Mercury Hdtp Love the '50s cruisers!
  2. Very clean! Would love to see an interior shot.
  3. Here's a shot of a real splash pan.
  4. Just got the kit today. Overall, very nice! The one thing that immediately jumped out and kind of let me down was the flat and inaccurate front splash pan. There should be a dip on the outer edge. Not much of an issue if you are mounting a front bumper, but for those of us who want to do a bumperless gasser/drag version, its gonna look a little funny. Wish they just went the extra mile on such an important body part. But, again, overall this is an awesome looking kit and I can't wait to dive head first into it.
  5. Slow progress... Got the side trim on today using Evergreen half-round .060. I wanted a simple Customline style stainless strip to give the car visual length, but also wanted it to look custom, so I abbreviated it just pass the doors, onto the front fenders. This is the first time I've ever done this, and overall I'm pretty happy with the results. There is a slight dip on the driver's side front fender, but it looks worse in pictures than it does in real-life. Next step is to shoot the body in white primer... more sanding, and then a coat of Tamiya Light Blue Metallic paint. It sure feels good working with plastic again!
  6. Looks much, much better with the re-chop! Looking forward to following this build.
  7. Very nice! Love the stance
  8. Thanks everyone! Patrik, I'll look into the '55 Chevy. I bet that would be close. I was thinking the Lindberg '53 Ford, too, but that may be too tall of a profile for the '55/'56 Fords.
  9. Does any one know if some one makes a convertible top in the "up" position for the AMT '56 Ford kits? Thanks
  10. Love it! Yeah, keep it just the way it is!
  11. OK, here we go! It's been 10+ years since I've built. Just dug this one out that I had started probably 11 or 12 years ago. My goal is to finish it in time for the West Coast Kustoms Cruisin' Nationals model show in Santa Maria this May. As you can see, the hood corners have been rounded, hood nosed, headlights canted and frenched, and front and rear openings molded on. I also removed the stock Fairlane trim and recut the trunk opening up higher. It was then primed and thrown in a box. My intention is to now finish it off with a single strip of stainless on the side (like a '55 Ford Customline), paint it in some shade of blue pearl, aftermarket wheel covers and wide whites, and utilize the custom interior that came with the kit. Nothing fancy, just finished it off the best I can with mostly box stock parts. Hopefully this will kick-start me back into building again! Time is limited, so this will be painstakingly slow. I'll try to keep everyone updated with pics and progress. Thanks for looking. PS: Is anyone aware of an aftermarket "up-top" convertible for a '56 Ford passenger car? Maybe in resin? Just thinking ahead to the next project.
  12. Nice! I love both the AMT '56 & '57 Ford kits!
  13. Very nice! Can't wait to mess around with this kit myself.
  14. Nice! Let's see more photos of the '49!
  15. The perfect stance for a '40 Ford coupe! Very nice!
  16. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the comments. And, I'm sure you all know this already, but Von Don Koolkat puts out the BEST model car magazine!
  17. I've been an on and off lurker for a while now and figured it was time to join up. Always loved building kits from a young kid. My time is limited now, so not as active when it comes to building, but still enjoy checking out other people's projects and finished kits. My main interest is in traditional '40s, '50s, and early '60s custom cars, but also love hot rods, early drag cars, and stock mid '50s FoMoCo products. First kit ever built: Revell '57 Ford snap (9 yrs old) First glue kit ever built: AMT '34 5w coupe (11 yrs old) Favorite kit: AMT '56 Ford and AMT '57 Ford Looking forward to making new friends here! Luke Attached some pics of some of my older builds from about ten or so years ago.
