  1. Yep, happens with the lowered suspension every time on mine.

    It sucks... I mocked up 70% of the kit prior to painting. I spent the time to detail the motor with various wiring, vacuum and fuel lines only to learn that the kit had some issues. The motor was a tough fit which required super glue with accelerator, the suspension has been apart a few times to try and dial it in level, the handling of the body has lead to fine scratches and micro marring in the soft black enamel paint, even the 3 pc dash board was a strange fit together as it require the superglue and accelerator as well. I was starting to think most of it was me and that I am a bit rustier than I thought I was (I probably am still). This was supposed to be the easy build after just finishing the AMT '33 Willys which fought every step of the way. Mild rant complete... sorry to vent on your post, just glad I am not the only one.

  2. I think you're missing the point here, for someone born in '95, they've never seen a kit retail for $5, they've always been at least triple that.

    You are right... I should have read the opening from the OP a bit closer. Sometimes it pays to slow down every now and then. Assuming for someone born in 95 they would have probably theroetically started building 10 years later kits would still be around $20.

  3. Yes, I am working on one now and I had to gently adjust the front by sanding the tops of the front coil springs and lightly bending the control arm. This was with the lowered custom parts in the kit however. I also have a nice body side bow on the passenger side that I didn't realize until it was in paint but should be able to be fixed by gluing the passenger rocker panel to the chassis side on final assembly. I thought maybe I just had a random warped kit seeing as I just searched this topic the other day.

    You could ask the OP of that thread what he used, paint the centers and you're there

    Just looked at Seans web site, from his site:

    The wheels and tires are Pegasus Hobbies Virage BBS style rims, but I modified the centers of each wheel so they would have a deeper offset. The centers were then painted Model Master titanium gray.

    Other mods include Pro-Tech (PTMC 6) photo-etch hood pins and Pro-Tech (PITMC15) license plate frames from Pro-Tech. These are really nice parts and very easy to work with.

  5. Just watched the movie on AMC.... From certain angles the trim looks just as hokey on the rral car in the movie as it does on the model. I am beginning to beleive there is a slight curvature to the trim but it it exaggerated by shrinking down the size to 1/25th scale. the belt line and roof are still a little hokey as mentioned. Not trying to fuel the fire and beat a dead horse, just an observation. FWIW

    I have one of these in my stash because there is a Larry Watson custom I want to replicate.

  6. CA glue works well... just a little dab with a tooth pick. To break apart if it doesn't want to come free easily I use a small swab of De-Bonder to let the glue lose it grip. Eileens Tacky Glue also works well, as does tape and pinning. There is no perfect way, each kit and sub assembly brings a new challange and you have to go with what you think is best. At least you have the ability to see outsidde of the old builder analogy of paint everything on the spures and then assemble which doesn't always work out well with some older kits.

  7. I have not seen any good pictures of the 2015 yet either. IRS is an answer to all the car tester rags that pick on the Mustang for using archaic technology in the for of a live axle. Persoanlly I am not a fan of IRS as My 03 Cobra, GTO's, 5th Gen Camamro's are overly suseptible to violent wheel hop which gets worse as the power goes up. If the NVH guys would put in harder durometer bushings to quell the hop and the eventual breakage it might be worth while.
