  1. Thanks for the feed back. On the fenders I stumbled on a way to form these so they match. I will post it in the tip section....Q
  2. Used Vallejo air brush ready acrylic orange on the frame and gun metal grey on the fenders. They dry flat so I chased them with future floor polish blown straight threw the air brush. A lot more custom work to come. Thanks Q!
  3. I have had this kit on the shelf for about a year now. After having what I call " the zombie flu" the past couple of weeks I finally have mustered up enough energy to start cutting up a perfectly good kit. Hope you enjoy the start of this project and stay tuned for updates.......than Q!
  4. 1 inch=2'1"@1/25 scale
  5. If you find it, check and see if my car keys are in it. My granddaughter miss placed mine. I believe in the same place. Gotta love 'em
  6. Picked that tip up from military building. By the way,if anyone notices the twin steer kw in the back ground please shout out some ideas. I'm stuck and don't know where to go with it now. Thanks Q.
  7. Ever seen an old truck and think " man that was once brand new"? Well that's what I'm after. After turning it into a day cab ,primer went on,aluminum on the nose and water and table salt was applied. Once the blue was painted the salt was rubbed off to simulate chips and wear. Keep watching its just getting started. Thanks Q.
  8. Sweet ride! You really captured the bed-bugger look. Very nice.
  9. Here is my boss that I had built. Stretched the frame a bit and some scratch building here and there. When it was finished I weathered with chalks and washes.
  10. love the old school muscle look. Need some nice drop headlights and outlaw visor. Did you scratch build the rear fenders?
  11. Yes it is a 5th wheel unit. I'll start posting that odd ball stuff in the 1:1 section. You wouldn't believe the things I see. Figured that kw unit could inspire some of these well built trucks I've been eyeing on this site.
  12. If you want hoses for the wagon hook up ect. Try telephone wire. Just strip off the outter casing and you will find various colors of wire. Then use a paint brush handle and wrap it tight around it, when your happy with the length, slide it off. Now you have a realistic coil hose that has natural droop. Give it a try I think you'll like it.
  13. This is a 95 w900 that I run daily. The quick swap is a b and b model 50/20 with a 35 k drag winch. Also some of my w I p . I will get u some pics. of the rotator stretched out if anyone is interested. Let me know.
  14. What scale is the boat? Land air and sea run in different scaling. For instance I'm building a 1/25 scale Pete 352 with a scratch drop deck, but the load will be an 1/32 scale f5 tiger jet. So the measurements between the two are as follows..1"=2'1" for 1/25 scale and 1"=2'8" for 1/32 scale aircraft. Close enough to just look right, and it should look just cool when its done.
  15. Here it is in 1/32 scale.a lot of scratch building on both units.enjoy
  16. I got a set on 10 from Spaulding trading and shipping.I payed 10 or15 bucks for the set. Be warned they DO need cleaned up and polished but they are worth it. I used dish soap and a sos pad to clean them then chased with aluminum wheel polish.
  17. Hello fellow plastic junkies! My name is john (aka Q-tip ), I live in northern Indiana and have been building since I was knee high to a fuel tank.( about 36 years). I build ww2 aircraft and trucks. I know' I know' playing on both teams right? Not really,by building weathered aircraft its not only a training tool but its also a history lesson. Then take the building and weathering teachings over to the truck side and the next thing you know scratch building, application of road grime and airbrushing doesn't seem to be so far out of reach. Once I figure out how to send pics I'll get them to you. P.S. for the guys building wreckers, guess what? I do drive and operate a 50 ton rotator doing recovery work on i69 and i 80/90. Building plastic is my stress reliever.
