  1. I agree we are cheap to begin with overall, but who customizes and makes military vehicles into show, drag, custom, street, modified, stock and whatever else the heart desires. They go for accuracy and do count the rivets.
  2. If I ever build one I want it to look like that. Now to have it look like that in 30 yrs how fantastic do I have to make it now? You did a very nice job and it's withstanding the test of time. Kudos
  3. I have heard of plastic color bleeding through primer and paint. Were the cab and body the same color plastic? If they aren't white or are different colors I have heard of this problem. I have yet to deal with this problem personally so I can't suggest one fix over another. This has been addressed before on this forum but I'm unsure of the wording to search for it. Good luck
  4. Racer X Illustrated is my go to mag.
  5. That is a nice story Roger, thanks for sharing.
  6. Thanks for the response to my query. I do wish times were simpler as I remember, but they aren't and it sounds like my options are limited and I made the right choice under the circumstances.
  7. The licence plate says it all. Nice builds.
  8. That is certainly my my fear in this day and age and is exactly what happened. If there was an adult there I may have offered this to them but there wasn't.
  9. First off sorry about the generic title don't know how to word it better. I was at Hobby Lobby this week and saw a young man (mabey 11 or 12) looking intently at the models trying to make a decision. In my mind I remember my own youth and how unaffordable it seemed to me at that time. So In my mind I was thinking I have extra parts and models I know I won't build and would have liked to offer him something in his interest but don't want to end up on a list where I have to register ( if you Know what I mean) So after a little chit chat we went our separate ways. Now to my question, what would you do and how not to sound like the old guy with candy (models) I truly just wanted to help out a young man who reminded me of myself and I would like to do this in the future. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  10. Nice art-you have some great talent to produce all these while healing from a broken leg. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Very nice, I have a few builds where that motor would be perfect. Thanks for sharing.
  12. I kinda like that six wheeler VW. What's one more future project? Thanks for sharing.
  13. I second what Brett said and on mine the hood seamed to sit a little high and I had to shave some plastic to get a better fitment. It is worth the time to test fit parts and assemblies before paint.
  14. Nice start, I like the art work and look forward to how it turns out.
  15. My best purchase would be a local lot. I purchased 409 models for 2k. I have sold about fifty to recoup my cost and can never build all the rest, but it's nice to have parts and options for the ones I do build . It can also be overwhelming wanting to do so many builds and not having enough time. Through buying and selling over the last several years, I have made this a free hobby to myself . I just wish I could do that in anything else in my life
  16. Thanks Rich for sharing another rare build. I love seeing old models/promos given new life-keep em coming..
  17. Uh Oh, the addiction may have just started. Nice first model and one of my all time favorite car.
  18. Nice job, I know too well how the simple build turns into every part being modified or manufactured-I'm doing one. You did such a fine job it's not noticeable Thanks for sharing..
  19. Well named and well done.
  20. Nice score, I always look at the toy section to cannibalize parts like that but I have not been as lucky. Have found some started and unbuilt kits though. That's always nice.
  21. There's a lot of truth in that statement. I would not own any of these, but would not be embarrassed by any of these--unless I actually spent good money for them.
  22. Very nice Rich, your making me love the class of 50's.
  23. I get general ideas of a project but let the project itself and creative juices flow through the build. If I planed better I wouldn't have as many problems or changes as I do but that's not my style. I have many WIP's because of this. I will set them aside till I get ideas or a direction to continue. This becomes a love- hate thing with the model. I love that I don't rush it but hate that I get hung up or burnt out and haven't completed it. This is why I have yet to do a WIP thread, it may take a long time if ever to be done. Speaking of this, I have wondered if there would be interest in a thread similar to work bench Saturdays where you could post pictures of your current project without a full dedicated thread. Or is it redundant as I think it seems to be?
  24. Sorry for your loss-much too young. Life does go on and hopefully this hobby, or others, can be a bright spot in dark times. God bless.
