  3. thanks george! rob, thanks for that suggestion. i'm still working on the paint(or lack of). got the running boards painted and washed, and some streaks of darker yellow. i'll post more pictures in a few days. i'll definitely do the alcohol/and toothbrush procedure. thanks again-dave
  4. thanks ryan. i've enjoyed this build alot so far. i have much more to do(haven't even started the interior). but the the original truck is 60+ years old, so i guess no big rush. just havin fun! dave
  5. not going too fast on this, but, what's the hurry anyway? here's a few more comments please... thanks for looking dave
  6. rip annette...another of our childhood heroes/legends-gone, but never forgotten dave
  7. thanks ed for the info. my son is wanting to build one, and was talking about converting a 40. i guess thats what he'll have to do. dave
  8. does anyone, or has anyone made this kit in 1/25, or 1/24? dave
  9. simply...AMAZING! what i've been doing is tinkering with a toy. what you are doing is true to life automotive craftsmanship in small scale! i am impressed! dave
  10. a few more pictures...the salting, and, after applying the yellow/cream final coat. this truck came from the factory in k.c. in sheridan blue(dark, almost black), was purchased by a caterpillar dealer in the area, and painted caterpillar yellow. it was used as the shop/service truck for several years. years later,(after alot of fading) i purchased it. the color of the 1:25 is now very close to the color of the 1:1 that i owned.
  11. brett, as much as i have always loved the willys coupes, and would really scowl at anyone who said the coupe body should be messed with, this thing is COOL! can't wait to see it finished. color me breathlessly awaiting the final product! dave
  12. whatever you choose on the wheels, it just keeps gettin better. i do like it better with fenders! i'm wantin to build an old wrecker. did you scratch build the wrecker beams, or rob off another kit? either way, its great! keep it going dave
  13. you've done a great job so far on your ranchero. it's gonna be a looker when it's done! dave
  14. this truck is hot already. if you keep having trouble deciding, send it to me, i'll do something with it have fun with it, you are doing good! dave
  15. i like! the more old rusted vehicles i see, the more i become addicted to em! dave
  16. really nice job richard. years ago i had a 1:1 fleetside long bed-loved it! i will keep watching your progress. the white primer with clearcoat looks great! dave
  17. thanks! derick---kitchen table resins-he had one left, was lucky to get it richard--about the same dents as the original! but i didn't know styrene was hard to dent and make it look realistic. much easier to dent the real thing!
  18. update on pictures...progress thanks for looking...suggestions or comments welcomed! dave
  19. started years ago before i could drive(learned that at 13). got away from it for years(kits were $2-$5 then-that give you a clue?). now, don't have a garage, or the money, to build a 1:1, so for now, it's back to modeling. and, since i'm older, and eyesight not as good as it used to be, i've discovered the wonderful optivisor! dave
  20. blair, this body style has always been my favorite. i had always wanted a real one, and finally got one. then, because of circumstances, had to sell it. someday, i'll own another, but until then, i'll tinker with the kits. your builds, along with dr cranky have inspired me to do the weathered, beaten version. especially your diorama. it is awesome. hope mine will look as good when it's finished. thanks for looking...dave
  21. the yellow truck is a 1:1 i owned a few years ago. the rest are pictures of a replica i'm starting. hopefully more to come! thanks everyone for help getting these posted! dave
  22. ok! thanks! i'm trying it...wish me luck!... dave
  23. i've been clicking "get link" for each photo, then, i left click on the bottom line. it says "copied". then i do another picture in the library(six total). then i go to this site, and try to start a new topic in on the workbench. it will only let me paste one picture.
