It is loosely based on a National 400ish, lots of modelers freedom. Trying have it somewhat functional for display. Thanks for looking. -

After a long break I am back fiddling with this unit. Building some rigging for picker and bed truck. Winters are long however might be able to spray some paint soon. -
I built these way to many years ago. Looking at them one afternoon, feeling somewhat guilty in the state they were in laying in a dust tote. I gathered up all the parts that had fallen off, replaced a couple missing ones and then it started. One thing led to another and after a few evenings of cleaning, building a few extra details, touch up painting and some simple airlines it’s starting to look like something again. Turning out not bad for a last century build.

Restoration project

Thank you, the gold is Testors acrylic out of a 1/4 ounce bottle airbrushed and testors brown hand brushed over top. Front rims are from a ERTL IH cabover kit. The pole trailer used to be black and the reach was broken in half, suspension pivot was glued solid. Half the fun was rebuilding and getting it to work again. -

Thank you so much for looking, will definitely look into the weathering powders. I’m just experimenting with washes right now. Also using some artists pens, India ink for black details and panel lines. Lots to learn sometimes best by trial and error. -

I’ve spent some time on finishing this one up. It is set up as a multipe use day cab with the removable log bunk/headache rack and able to switch to fifth wheel. Again experimenting with weathering and it’s certainly a fine art as well as a fine line. Any advice or suggestions welcome. Still a couple small details and paint. The hood doesn’t quite line up just like the real one (been rode hard). And best of all, I did not lose the hood ornament. It has been under lock and key to be installed last. Thanks for looking. -

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. A few more progress pics. Changed direction on this, being my first attempt at a diorama. -

Thanks for looking, Turned the lids using my dremel and used evergreen tube and a pair of Kootney 3D elbows cut down to 45. I will say this, the poly used in 3D printing in this case is very brittle and not very machinable at all. Now to figure out the mirrors. -

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, I switched gears on this and added the cold climate air intakes. A friend RC Mark suggested it and I’m glad I did. Cab, engine and other sub assemblies are just sitting on frame for mock-up nothing glued. Started some painting and hoping to finish soon. -
